Choosing and Evaluating Primary Schools

Many parents aiming for Pei Hwa will thank you for making the competition one less competitiveafiqa.z:
Speaking from personal experience travelling by car (most times going public)...
Thanks a lot for sharing your experience with us.
I worry my daughter would face the same delima if I agreed with my wife to register my daughter to Pei Hwa (about 50 mins by bus from my home) in phase 2B . I worried it is so far for my daughter even though she takes the school bus, and I worried more she might feel difficult to make friends with other children living nearby because they are not schoolmate / classmate. Your post gives me a real example.
I have registerd my daughter to Qifa (less than 15 mins from my home) at phase 2A2.

But if 2 parents are working and their office is far away from home, then the school that near the house may not make so sense. I had plan to get my daughter to go to 2A2 which nearer to my office. She will be going to After School Care and I will be able go back with her after work.
What if you decided to change job and office is in different location? -

I realised our bus route is not very efficient. I'm eyeing a school just outside 2km. Merely 15 minutes drive.Distance is not an issue if you intend to engage school bus service.
but what others said about CCAs and occasions when buses are not available, that will be a headache.
ds1 is in a school 1-2km from home:
But by public trsansport, I will need to transfer 2 buses & the bus detour around housing estates, plus waiting time, easily took an hour to reach!
Even school bus is not a good solution. Ours will be the last few stops after dropping off everyone else. School bus journey is at least 40 to 45 minutes -
I intend to register my gal for 2013 P1 with NanHua and we stay at yew tee. I just called the bus company to find out the timing of picking up and alighting. Pick up at around 6am, alight at around 2pm+. Now I am not sure if I should just let my gal go to a school which is nearby our place or still go Nanhua as we are phase 2A2 eligible. :slapshead:

Afiqa.z recent post provides real life experience of what the child would have undergone, and it ain't going to get better as there will be more after school commitments.
You have around 2 years to \"do something\" ie P2B near your house or move nearer to NH. Ultimately decision time is in June/July 2013. -

I can feel your 'pain'.

even with the short drive to school, sometimes we prefer to leave home a bit earlier because when parents start arriving nearer to assembly time, the single lane road will get jam. -

If you are going to stay at Yew Tee, it's not wise to send your kid to Nan Hua. The travelling alone (whether by bus or car) kills.
why don't you explore Chongfu? -
