Hi all,

Tot I let you know that CHIJ (Kellock) is having an open house this Saturday. I'm going to check it out before I confirm if I sending my little girl there or not. Any idea of what to expect?

Understand that GES is established in 2002. Is it consider a new or old school? Some said it’s new and some said it’s old… I’m confused.

GESP is actually a merger of 4 primary schools
- keng seng Primary
- Henderson Primary
- Bukit Ho Swee Primary and
- Alexandra Hill Primary

It is in its 9th year this yr.

Will still try out ZDPS first cos my kids like it better. If really dun have then go GESPS, at least we tried.

No harm adopting this mentality at this point in time, but please keep a close watch in the afternoon of the third day of P2C. It should be confirmed by early afternoon of the third day which distance category the balloting will be conducted for. If balloting is for those in the 1-2 km category, please go to your backup school. No point wasting your chance in P2C.

sotong008, agree with qms that you should not waste your chance at P2C. Monitor the enrolment at ZD closely and the school should be able to confirm if you stand a chance at >2km (which may likely to end up with balloting should there be any vacancies then).


And how far away are you from GESPS or Cantonment? If you are more than 2km from either these 2 schools, then you should seriously consider where you want to place your best bet.

I think Cantonment runs on single session, meaning morning school from P1.

Since you are more than 2km away from ZDPS, very likely you will not have a chance to get a place in ZDPS. This is based on past balloting history.

On a safer bet, it would be wise to enroll either GESPS or CPS. Of course you need to monitor closely on the 3rd day of Phase 2C. See the situation & register one of them. Wish you good luck then.

In addition, I beleive many parents would place backup school with GESPS if the hot favourite like RMPS, CHIJ (Kellock) & ZDPS fully taken up.


GESPS have a new young Principal which had took over not long. I saw their wesbite & they had did almost 100% overhaul which look very attractive to explore.

From the OneMap, I’m 3.7km away from ZDPS & 3.9km from GESPS. The nearest school for me is either BRPS or RMPS. Not keen on both.

Does it mean I can register @ ZDPS on 1st day of P2C, then when I know I can’t get any seat on 3rd day of P2C I should withdraw and then register @ GESPS?

Is it on the 3rd day of P2C the school will announce who will need to ballot? Does anyone know normally at what time?

Try the SchoolQuery function, rather than the distance function, to confirm whether these two schools are indeed beyond 2 km from your house.

You may either do that, or wait till the third day to decide which school you want to register with. This method saves you the time to withdraw from the first school and apply with the second school.

Official announcement will only be made days after the P2C registration closes. Hence, you need to call up the school on the third day to find out which distance category will balloting be conducted.

Suggest that you head down or call ZDPS on the 3rd day of Phase 2C (PM slot) & enquire from ZDPS. If the staff said don’t waste time to apply to ZDPS (Since you are more than 2km away) & confirm you no chance. You then can proceed to register at GESPS. I guess you have high chance to get into GESPS even you are more than 2km away. To register on 1st day & later do a withdrawal on 3rd day you would be wasting additional resources.
