Thanks Thanks, that's a good indication...most of the bus operators uses vans right? Do you happen to know which bus operators operate via route?I pay $55 for single trip. $65 for 2-way. It's considered rather low. NA has many bus operators thus they are competitive. I do know buses with CHIJ Katong charges almost $90 for 2-way and the gal stays very near my place.
Hi 3bagsfull, do let me know if you need further clarifications. Would be glad to answer if I can.
-
Oops, sorry I don't. Cos my neighbour happened to have placed his son in the same school bus so I did not need to check out the other buses

Normally the children would board the bus 15min after school lessons end.
Yes, first day of school was exciting. Alot of us loitered outside the side gate though we were not able to see them anymore after a while. Some parents even brought video cam!!
It was also possible that you bump into friends you know. I did.

japhys haha next year u will see me kan jiong and kiasu peeping too
In fact during the registration i bump into my ex colleague wor.
No worries on the school bus will find out more from the school. Do they have test and spelling on a weekly? -
Spelling and Ting Xie - yes they do.
This year they have started with Show-and-tell for chinese oral. It is a challenge for most of the english-speaking pupils
Also, the pupils were given a mini chinese test just before March holidays and were then streamed into different chinese classes from term 2! -
Really show and tell for P1 chinese. Oh they were given a mini chinese test and then streamed into different classes, hmm thot no streaming for P1? And they will remain in same classes in P1?
-
You are right that they would remain in their own class until end p2, the subjects like English and Math, meaning the original form class. In p3, they would be streamed into different classes. However for 2nd language the children are mixed, as the Tamil or Muslim students would then move to another class, etc. So in a chinese class, the students would also be merged. In term 2, they would merely be moved to another chinese class. Think there are about 3 classes with the students who scored well.

U hv been very helpful all these while.
Another qn i wanna know is... since the sch ends at 1.30pm, i suppose kids hv to take their lunch at sch. What are the arrangements like?
BTW, anyone has idea when we wld receive the \"official letter\" from Ngee Ann to say that our kids are admitted? -
Thanks japhys for the information again. One more question, are there a lot of Malays and Tamil student in your childβs son, just wanted to know the proportion.
3bagsfull: Spoke to the school last week, they mentioned that they will send the confirmation sometime mid of the week. I didnβt get mine tooβ¦Let me know once you get yours. -
June:
Sure June. We are truly living up to the name of KS parents.

BTW, do you have any idea when the P1 orientation wld be?
japhys - did NA organise any \"parents preparation course\" to prepare us for the Maths that the kids wld be doing? Cos I understand that sch like Pei Chun does hv that cos a lot of parents hv no idea how to teach the kids maths as the kids are learning the \"modelling\" method which is very different from what we learned when we were young.
TIA

No problem at all, it does not cost me to share what I know
All pupils must assemble by 7.45am. If they arrive any earlier they have to do silent reading. 3 of the days are dedicated for english books, the other 2 for chinese books. Lessons commence at 8am.
End time:
Mon - 3pm (This is the 1st time they build in enrichment programme into the schooling hours, thus the lessons would end later by 1hr + 1/2 hr lunch) - I would share on the programme separately later.
Tue to Thur - 1.30pm
Fri - 1pm
Pupils are only required to take lunch in school on Monday. Thus you have to prepare more pocket money for your child. Other days - ya, my son's rather hungry when he reaches home, and he would eat alot
I like the end-time on Friday as the pupils would appreciate the weekend earlier.
Last year, I also participated in phase 2c, and I received the confirmation letter on 25 Sept.
Oh, one thing unique about their orientation is that it would be held just a couple of days before school starts!! They believe in getting the pupils to get used to the environment and not to have too long a break from orientation to Day1. However this is a little inconvenient for us as we could not have our questions answered earlier. Most other schools have orientation in November, and uniform and books are purchased on the same day. In Ngee Ann, I had to make separate trip in Nov to get them.
Do bring your video cam or camera along during orientation too as it was quite fun filming my son queuing and buying food in the canteen during orientation.
