            Gigg18s:
            Mandy2009:

Heard that the academic performance of Woodgrove Pri Sch has dropped. Anyone knows the reason?

According to ChannelEducation Primary School Ranking 2010, the best primary schools in Woodlands are Woodlands Pri Sch and Woodlands Ring Pri Sch. http://www.channeleducation.com.sg/2010-Primary-Schools-Ranking-in-Singapore.php

Understand that Admiralty Pri Sch and Evergreen Pri Sch are very popular in Woodlands. Why? Since their ranking is one grade lower as compared to Woodlands Pri Sch and Woodlands Ring Pri Sch. Anyone can share what are the strengths of Admiralty and Evergreen Pri Sch? Why are these two schools so popular in Woodlands? Balloting for <1km is needed since 2006.

Can anyone also share what are the strengths of Fuchun Pri Sch? Balloting for 1-2 km is needed since 2007.

Yes, oso intersted in knowing about Woodlands Ring Pr. VS Woodgroove Pri. Hope you can share??

Hi i am in the same dilemma as you. I am also residing in woodlands and is thinking between the 2 schools. From what i have noticed, innova pri seem to gain its popularity lately. You know any reason?

Admiralty, Everygreen and greenwood are located near the residential area. Thus there are many applicant, more for convenience than results.

I have friends who are ex-student of woodgrove, their results has been very good and my gal enrichment teacher at woodlands also mentioned that woodgrove is a good sch compared to admiralty. i heard greenwood is good lately too.

Anyway i guess i prob still try my luck at woodgrove but i am still between 1-2km... how abt u?

              Hi,

Been a silent reader all the while & this year finally my turn to register DS for next year P1. I’m also same dilemma as Mandy2009 & Disneymum, staying near Admiralty mrt & nearby school Admiralty, Everygreen and greenwood all need balloting for phase 2C based on history. Except Wld Ring which is within my place of1km, which i think can get in without ballot but so far have not heard much abt Wdl Ring… I’m thinking to register in Woodgrove too, but will falls into 1-2km category… so dunno should i try my luck or just go to Wld Ring? Dilemma ler…

I registered for P2B yesterday at Admiralty Primary. Personally I think this is just a so-so school but because it is within walking distance from where we live, I chose it. I actually prefer Innova for its facilities and Woodgrove for their results. But I am within 1 - 2 km for those school…so chances for balloting are high. I cannot find any published academic results for Admiralty Primary (only that last year’s top scorer was a mere 266) but during my time volunteering, I have spoken to the teachers of the best and the "other end" classes. For the top 2 classes, most of them will make it either to the Tier 1 and Tier 2 Sec school. So if your child is in Admiralty Primary, help her or him get into the top 2 classes to maximize their chances. Financial aid students are high in this school, at about 30 - 35% I was told. CCA…nothing to brag about.

One good thing I can see from having a child mingling with these kids is to keep them rooted or "grounded" so that their heads will not be forever in the air and that things that get broken may not be so easily replaced so that they learn the value of money.
The question that I have which some of you have asked is why Si ling is so unpopular but it appears that they have the best results. Last year’s top scorer was 275, 274 and 270! I will wait and see how my child progresses in Admiralty if I manage to get her a spot. I am tempted to transfer her to Si Ling nonetheless.

maybe for Siling the result varies a lot from the top scorer compare to others in same class/school for non top scorers? tat’s what i heard, not sure if it’s true or not…

Yeah…that’s what I am afriad of too. I can’t tell from their website and nothing much has been discussed about Si Ling so really the question is wheather the top scorers are just a handful compared to other schools which will have at least a class or two that will make it to the top 10 sec school. But the headmaster Mr. Reddy is a force to be reckon with I suppose. He joined in 2006 and this school started having top scorers a few years later (according to Chief’s list) so I guess he must be doing something right… A lot remains to be seen.

Which school have you decided on ckhoo5?

                      Hi soursop,

Yeah, seems like with the new principal Mr Reddy, Siling's result is better.. i'm still undecisive.. whether just go Wld ring Pri or Wdl Primary which i guess no need ballot as i within 1 km, but nothing much i heard abt tis school.. or opt to Woodgrove as I quite like this sch when i went to the open house n tis school is quite academic inclined.. but i have the risk of balloting as i'm in 1-2km.. am not planning to ballot in Admiralty, Evergreen n Greenwood due to the hot balloting.. so still dunno wat to do now.. sigh :slapshead:

                        Hi ckhoo5,

From what I read around, woodlands ring is better than woodlands primary. The advice is always to register nearest to home unless you did PV and also not guranteed. You have to think if it is riskier registering for woodlands ring in P2C supp if you didn’t get Woodgrove…
