However the school which I prefer is > 2km from my house. Is it REALLY true that in the group of phase 2B applicant, the school will still sub-categorise them into <1km, <2km>2km. If so, would that mean that chances for category >2km is almost ZERO, especially if it's a popular school you are applying. Can anyone out there help me to confirm this point...

The worst fear I am having now is that I have to buy a new flat/condo near that school, work as volunteer, join RC and even with all that, it doesn't GUARANTEE any seat. Am I right ?!!! .............. -_-
      Hi,
you should read about St Hilda's http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?t=452&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=45 case. The parent did PV. The parent reside outside 2km. During Phase 2B, the response is overwhelming (in such case, priority is given based on distance, and if demand exceed supply for each of these distance category, balloting may be carried out). Only all of those residing within 2km got in....ie the parent is unsuccessful. She had no chance in securing a place in Phase 2C as usually balloting required within 1km in Phase 2C.

... when is your sometime back which year is your kid going to be register for pri one this is essential info

my kid was born in Monkey Year (registration 2011??) and the first contact I made was about 2 months' ago. If I am not wrong, most schools attend to PV application as early as this June, but some starts late till next Jan. but I also understand from school's reply to me that early submission of application won't give me an edge, coz they will collate all applications at the end of the period, then decide.

              Hi all,

We are doing PV at West Grove, one hour a week of recess duty. So in order to complete 40 hours, we need to do 40 weeks.

My question is: Are we able to do 40 weeks ? After deducting the school holidays, are there 40 weeks of study before the cut off date ?

Better to take up ad hoc voluntary work as well. Don't forget that there are also public holidays or other school holidays like marking day, etc.

                    Bishan_mum, towei,

                    Thanks for your advise šŸ™‚

Actually I wanted to do ad hoc to reach 40 hours faster. But the person in charge at the school said that since we committed to 1 hour a week, we must finish the 40 weeks. Even if we do ad hoc and completed 40 hours, we still have to do those 40 hours of recess duty we committed.

But I just found out there is one public holiday that falls on Wednesday on which we need to do our duty. So I better call them to see if we can do more.

you mean you do recess for wed afternoon, i think because too many volunteers, don;t know how to allocate imagine have to come every week once and one hour only also ask about sports day, whether can help, if you can try volunteer other school actuallly xingnan is good except a bit far
