i read somewhere about standing in front of a boiling kettle for steaming effect. has anyone try that before?

mine is an electric kettle, so not much steaming effect. was looking at the rice cooker last nite and looks like it is a better replacement. 😂 😂

:rotflmao: ya lor, since whenever i open the rice cooker cover, the steam is sure to keep coming up for at least 5min.
just put the face over it huh?
but then, later i contaminate the whole pot of rice with my perspiration. 😆

Can you boil a pot of water in an uncovered pot and use that? Or use your steam iron! 😄

:rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: what about just pour hot water in a basin, use a towel to cover your head and the opening of the basin to get the same effect?

read in the Mind Your Body section of the Straits Times before that the docs use IPL, or intense pulse laser (not so sure) to zap away spots and freckles?

i've never tried it though, have only read about it.

Thanks! will go read up on it. 😄

Haha...but he still leaves his dishes in the kitchen sink for the sink fairy to wash! And the clothes hangers pile up by his bedside waiting for the hanger fairy to magically send them to the washing/ironing area...and he can never find the stuff he needs without wifey's help. What to do? You win some and you lose some!

                gosh! now i get it!
my hb thinks we r living in fairyland.
                so there's a sink fairy,hanger fairy... 😆

                  mummy of 2:
Emm I'm only SAHM for 1 month plus and already thinking about returning to work. I don't really do much at home except spend time with kids, bring them to and fro school and supervise DS to read and do work. It seems a bit of a waste to give up working. But must say I feel more sane now that there's no need to wake up early do the morning commute, rush thru the never-ending work and come home to coach DS, knowing that he has watched way more TV than I like while I was at work. Guess can't have it all.

this is hw i feel too!
esp when i bring my ds1 to the playgrd downstairs,
all i see are the ah gongs, ah ma and lots of maids with the kids.
no1 like me, till i do feel quite out of place. and i will wonder am i wasting my time? shd i be out there working for my retirement instead since, well, everybody seem to be working.

but i do cherish my days with my boy. at least i can ctrl wat he does and wat he eats.

i know what you mean. I go to the playground and I'll be the minority. The maids yak with each other, the grandparents bragging about grandkids' milestones to each other. I am shunned by both groups.

But the up side is, when you are at the playground with your kids, there are many opportunities to teach them things, some are very impt life lessons/ life skills. So it is not wasting your time.

For eg. Taking turns, playing safely... these are not practised by some children who are in the playground. If my boys are not being nice, I am there to teach them how to play properly.

How about how to swing on swings, how to scale a height or traverse the monkey bars?

I hadn't noticed it before, but many kids do not know how to swing themselves. It is not a natural skill to pick up nowadays it seems. So I am there to guide my kids, help them learn to ride a bike, swing on the swings, rollerblade, wave board, ride on the skate scooter, swing on the monkey bars...

If they fall, I am there if they need me, if they fall bad. If they fall and don't need me, I am there to feel proud of them picking themselves up and going off again. If they are bullied or bully someone, I am also there to step in if necessary.

Compared to the maids and grandparents, moms have the edge over them too. For eg, you'll have more energy than the grandparents, so you can play with them, run around, play catching, climb up and down, play hide and seek. The grandparents can't cope with so much.

Even if, the 3 of them didn't bring their bikes or anything down and didn't feel like using the playground equipment on some days, I still feel useful in some ways. When they look at the crawling ants, I can talk to them about the crawling insects, how they live together and are so hardworking. We can taste the nectar in the Ixora bushes around the playground. Or observe the mynahs, sparrows and pigeons flying around and get them to differentiate the different birds.

I guess the maids won't be doing these?

So moms, we're not wasting our time. We're giving the best of our time to the kids. Worth it ya?

                        sleepy,

me married for 13+yrs. of course the feeling nw wun be like courtship days or the honeymoon period.

last time will still rack brain wat to get for his birthday…or plan surprise party/dinner. now, sad to say…erhmm…i juz gv him ang bao. i noe i gotta try harder to make an effort. but smtimes really is NO time to shop and i’d rather he get smthg he really needs…(his gadgets)

i suppose over the yrs as we get caught up with work, family, kids, we tend to take each other for granted, telling ourselves he will alwys be there for us, ‘i do it the next day/wk/anniversary’. or we let ourselves go, nv bother to look gd for our spouse. im guilty of that and my hb did voice out. i will say ‘ok ok i do my hair/nails next wk’ then will act blur/busy.

i have frends who put on FULL makeup(eyelash extensions included) and shoes-match-handbag outfits wenever we meet up. i have to admired ther effort, cos i will nv bother to do that.

my hb meets alot of pretty young thgs in his workplace…smtimes will feel insecure but i noe he’s the sentimental type tho im also aware i shd NOT take him for granted.

ok, maybe i shd go do my hair now.
