I think if the school has explained clearly then it is up to parents to accept.
Parents should also do their homework ...and isn't this the main reason why we are all members of this fantastic kiasuparents! Thanks to the efficiency of Chief and the many contributors
:thankyou: -

\"Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents who have lost their Identity Card (IC) are required to report the loss and apply for a replacement in person within 14 days. ... you may execute a Statutory Declaration when you come to ICA to report the loss.\" http://www.ica.gov.sg/page.aspx?pageid=75
With the Stat Declaration, you should be able to use that to register for P1. -

Will they accept based on mummy's ic? Then asap make a police report ...poppy15:

They only go according to the address on the Father's IC. So they definitely need the IC.
If you have a scanned or photocopy of his IC you can produce it but you definitely still need the statutory declaration when you report loss of IC and perhaps can show driver's license instead???
I registered under 2A2 last week with scanned copy of my DH IC as he was in reservist but they still required him to go down and show his original IC before they approved my application. -

if go to ICA directly, they can give it him before your registration?:?: :?: my stupid DH lost his IC last night.... and he's too busy to hv a new one done soon... will the school accept passport as part of the required documents? :gloomy:

Quite a lot of schools do that. I know of neighbourhood schools that inform PVs of that too. Most parents do PV with this knowledge but with a hope (like we all buy lottery though we know the hope is little). For parents staying >1km from popular school, PV is a route that may give a slim chance as P2C there is no chance for them. Given the slim vs no chance, they will take that and try - maybe hit lottery that year?smurf:
I feel that it's really irresponsible for schools to accept PVs if there is a need to ballot even for <1km. What does it show? To show that the sch is very popular so the principal KPI and bonus will increase?
To me,that is so crappy, and it reflect badly on the principal's leadership.
They could just get more existing students' parents to chip in more help if they need so. Why exploit innocent parties who dun even get the chance to enroll in the sch??
I do not speak for all schools but in Tao Nan School, the school explained to all PV wannabes the duties involved and shown them the past years' registration stats. All parents that chose to stay & ballot and eventually contribute their 40hrs, did so with willingly and well informed.

as mummyo said, address is based on dad's ic. best to call moe and school to check.
if someone used the lost ic to do illegal stuff (like getting loan from loanshark or to apply for telephone plan etc), the owner of the ic is responsible for it. so better to make police report asap and not wait till free. -
police report made liao… the repost did indicate our address… but donch know if the sch will accept this report or nt…

Just a word of advice, ask for the MOE's person name, the one you speak to.police report made liao... the repost did indicate our address.... but donch know if the sch will accept this report or nt...
calling moe now...
Last week when I called them, the MOE person says only need scanned copy of IC, then when I got to the school, they still need my DH to go down personally to show his original IC. He had to leave camp early to do so.
