      Flame Lily:

      Hi fellow Kiasu forumites,

Went to DHS openhouse with my daughter last Saturday and came home happy. She will apply through DSA via MEP (violin). Not sure how good her chance is coz the overall P5 & P6 SA1 results have to be 80% (hers is >70% but <80%).

Would like to listen to parents who have kids who have been through this path.

      Thanks in advance.

      hi
so sorri, i have no info for u with regards to DSA via MEP,
hope there are other parents who can share with u their experience.

hereby, wishing u all the best in yr gal's DSA. 😄

      Thanks Augmum 😄

We are sending her results & certificates to the school tomorrow. Wish us luck !

Must say I am impressed with how well behaved and polite the kids are when I was there at the openhouse. Of course my daughter said \"they are still hiding their horns\"

glad to hear that u have already submit yr aplication,
wishing yr gal all the very best for her DSA. 😄

i would say that the boys there are well-behaved.
(majority of them, of course, there are some very mischievous ones 😉 )
not much difference fr what we had observed during the openhouse,
as the openhouse also involved the \"ordinary pupils\"
who are clocking in their CIP hrs, not only those who are being picked.

Is % or GPA more impt?

Is GPA used in Y4 to enter JC 1?
A level do we use GPA?
Been out of touch n getting confused when our times, things were so much simpler :yikes:
              hi,
not every sec sch is using GPA as their grading system.
IP schools which use GPA grading systems, used it for promo criteria from 1 level to another.
in DHS, yes, GPA is used in y4 to yr 5 promotion, juz like other levels.
\"O\" level students will need their \"O\" level results for applications to JC.

                  2) is CIP needed for Y1 to go Y2?
                  3) can u accumulate enf CIP hours from cca?
                  4) what is the purpose of CIP
                  Many thanks for advising :rahrah:
                  CIP ---community involvement programme
maybe, u would like to google to read more abt this programme....
and yes, it is mandatory for all sec school pupils.
there is a min hrs reqirements for each yr, depending on the schools ( not too certain abt this)
CIP is part of the LEAPS grading system
this link may provide u with more info

                        Hi hi

I chanced upon this forum when I was googling for DHS related stuff. I graduated from dunman high in 1997.

Was just curious after reading the posts here.

On a discussion ground, may I know why are so many students and parents afraid of UG nowadays? In our days, UG was highly sought after.

And I must add that I truly enjoy my days in dhs. And it is true that dhs churned out students that are quite different from other schools. Respect, diligence, being humble, honest, disciplined. We are not the most vocal around, but we are often the people doing stuff, thinking stuff and making stuff happen.

                        Just being curious. 😄
