or the number of active community leaders or clans / religion affiliations.
Exactly. Plus this year some schools reduce their overall intake to convert to single session by 2016. This will be the trend I predict, most schools will have to cut one class size each year til 2016.mummy of 3:
Any parents hv any experience of being Parents Volunteers , yet can't enrolled into sch of your choice? Pls share your exp, opinions. Thks.
I only can say we cant predict the outcome in P2A2.
End of the day, you won't know how many places are left in 2B, after Phase 1 and 2A. Plus the number of GRL plus clan/church members.
My advice will be to choose a school with no clan or church associations and do PV there. Then you only have GRL to contend with.
Best to choose a school within 1km too to increase your chances should there be need of a ballot. -
most schools are already single session
and for those that are not, not all are taking the cutting number of classes route. Some are upgrading their school premise to have more classes. -

I was just caught out this year at HPPS cos when we met the principal, he says they are ungrading the premises so no need to cut intake but in the end, MOE still decided to cut intake by 1 class this year.
So you never know... -
then the cutting of intake is not due to need to reduce number of class to go single session but due to estimated number of applicants in that area this year. kind of balancing supply & demand stuff, which they do every year.

hi anyone here has already registered for PV in PHPP?? can share more details?

OIC
Then the supply is always not enough cos the demand is always high! :rotflmao: -
they go by total places in the area, not by particular.
no way they can increase places of popular schools to meet all demands, then might as well all other less popular schools change name to that of the popular school.

If I do PV and also stay within 1km, will I have a higher chance than those stay more than 1km if ballot is needed for phase 2B?
How do the schools differentiate those stay within or more than 1km in their balloting box or are they using electronic system to ballot?
Sorry, I am new in this forum and also seldom read about Singapore educational system until now my son is 3yrs old this year. -

Definitely. Balloting is by distance and you have the highest chances if you stay within 1km of the school. If I do PV and also stay within 1km, will I have a higher chance than those stay more than 1km if ballot is needed for phase 2B?

Take for eg. Henry Park this year, all those PVs staying less than 1km and those staying 1-2km are safe, only those staying >2km need to ballot. So even if you PV in a really HOT school and balloting conducted for 1km or less, at least you get a chance to ballot if you are ,1km from school. THose staying further away are automatically out.
There is no electronic ballot. When you register, the school will check your home-school distance using onemap.sg website. You can also check yourself how far away your home is to your choice school.
It's not too late, I only started planning for my boy's P1 Registration when he was 4 years old. Happy to say my hardwork paid off and we got a place in our choice school this year.
Do your homework and plan accordingly. Don't be caught out by the system.
Good luck. -
This year the school of our choice had to ballot during Ph2B less than 1km. Historically this was not so. I am just wondering what to do now. Give up PV or still take that chance that when our turn comes up next year won't be so hot...any views or similar experiences? :scratchhead:
