      Hi Titank!

Agree. Since the residents at The Pinnacle@Duxton will fall in the 1-2 km category, it is very likely that many more will register as PV. Given this scenario, those staying within 1 km from the schools will need to apply as PV if they want to have higher chance of getting into the schools.
There are about 1,600 units in The Pinnacle@Duxton. Will we witness the situation whereby balloting will be required in Phase 2B for RMPS, too? :?[/quote]

      Hi QMS,

Wow glad that mine P1 registration for DS is over.Perhaps my DD maybe no point taking the risk to enroll into CHIJ (Kellock) next time.

Hopefully BRPS would have tremedous PSLE & the new school (Duxton) would cushion the impact of P1 registration in subsequent P1 regiastrations. I still think that there is not enough schools in Bukit Merah area, our town planners need to do more about it.

        Hi QMS,

Info from one of my freind's freind said that CHIJ (Kellock) on oridentation day were being bring to the classroom. All were being ask to sit for English & Chinese test. :!:

Those who performed badly have to come back in Nov or dec maybe 2 weeks for extra remedical lessons. Not free of charge have to pay, 😢

So when P1 school reopen, all would more or less the same standard.
Guess we need to be prepare as RMPS would be also a siong siong school for us.
        :?:

        Hi all,

Just like to share a little about Kellock, as my kid is in P1 this year... We had initially wanted to enroll in RMPS, but being in the 1-2km last year put us up for balloting, and with 60+ eligible applicants for 20+ vacancies was not very attractive thus we enrolled in Kellock.

On orientation date, the kids were given some tasks and word games to play (according to my girl), while the parents met the principal and watched some performances. I guess they were assessing the apptitute of their language and math skills...

According to the principal, Kellock is not keen on having a few brilliant individuals to bring glory to the sch. That's probably why there's hardly any top student making the headlines in the past... Their approach are more of a \"nobody left behind\" policy.

On day one of sch, they were assigned to their respective classes. They adopt names of stones like diamond, ruby, jade etc for their classes, so we can't guess which class is for the better or weaker students... and most of the students will remain in the same class throughout the 6 years. In the first 2 or 3 months, once awhile my girl told us they had this new girl in class, or one of her classmates went to another class... guess they do categorise in one way of another. Even in this 3rd semester, her class will split up and join different classes for chinese lessons. Weaker students were also given remedial classes after school.

Another neighbour shared that her boy in RMPS has quite a lot of homework. When he missed school recently for 1 day MC, he was asked to go for remedial classes. Guess the principal was right in saying that kids going to RMPS must be prepared to take the pressure.

            Hi, thanks for referring.

            *paging for Titank*
interested. but think i can only register for PV next year or the year after. any tips?? how did u manage to secure? via PV??? can share? tks.

Just give a call RMPS to the school & ask for PV when your child turn 5 at that time.

As the school is good in IT, if you do have IT or other special skills like developing course modules that would be great.

wow thanks. i must go brush up my IT skills....- )

                  Hi lu_meihua!

It all depends on how you would like your child to develop. Like what the principal of RMPS said, there is no bad school - just schools with different areas of focus. I think most parents in the KSP forum may not agree with this statement. Nevertheless, look at the strengths and weaknesses of each school, and decide whether the school is one which you think your child is able to fit in.

Keep us updated! Come share with us any pointers you have, too, for the benefit of other parents.

                    Hi QMS,

I think this statement was generally make by all Principal of those 77 schools that conducted balloting yesterday. Guess you should be receiving your confirmation slip from the school regarding the oridentation.

I think the P1 Camp maybe could be just a 1 day event.

True, and I believe it's to make parents feel better. Nevertheless, like what I mentioned in my last post, many parents do not agree to this statement.

We received it on the spot yesterday. Is it the yellow copy? There's nothing else, right? The principal requested successful parents not to leave immediately upon hearing their children's names, as she required them to sign on some documents to confirm their acceptance of the enrollment. However, after the balloting, we approached the teachers, and all of them said no endorsement was required. Just told us to collect the yellow copy of the registration form. :?

Or, maybe, it was only a \"ploy\" by the principal to stop parents from leaving the room immediately as it could be disturbing, disrupting and insensitive to others.

                        Hi QMS,

Oh maybe the school do not want successful parents to leave as it may cause disturbence. Something like 1st 30 minutes cannot leave the class during exam?

Yes I recieved the yellow paper in my Phase 2B registration. On top of that they still send me a letter inform me the oridentation date.

Look like GESPS would be fill up by Phase 2C Supplementary stage. BRPS can last until Phase 3.
