No problem at all, it does not cost me to share what I know πŸ˜„

All pupils must assemble by 7.45am. If they arrive any earlier they have to do silent reading. 3 of the days are dedicated for english books, the other 2 for chinese books. Lessons commence at 8am.

      End time:
Mon - 3pm (This is the 1st time they build in enrichment programme into the schooling hours, thus the lessons would end later by 1hr + 1/2 hr lunch) - I would share on the programme separately later.

      Tue to Thur - 1.30pm

      Fri - 1pm

Pupils are only required to take lunch in school on Monday. Thus you have to prepare more pocket money for your child. Other days - ya, my son's rather hungry when he reaches home, and he would eat alot

I like the end-time on Friday as the pupils would appreciate the weekend earlier.

Last year, I also participated in phase 2c, and I received the confirmation letter on 25 Sept.

Oh, one thing unique about their orientation is that it would be held just a couple of days before school starts!! They believe in getting the pupils to get used to the environment and not to have too long a break from orientation to Day1. However this is a little inconvenient for us as we could not have our questions answered earlier. Most other schools have orientation in November, and uniform and books are purchased on the same day. In Ngee Ann, I had to make separate trip in Nov to get them.

Do bring your video cam or camera along during orientation too as it was quite fun filming my son queuing and buying food in the canteen during orientation.

Hmm, unfortunately Ngee Ann does not do so. I know what you are referring to and have wondered too.

Anyway, though it only slightly more than 8 months, I have come to conclude that we we may have to enhance certain things ourselves... Thus I actually bot some materials to get myself equipped with the changes in math teaching.

Well, I hope they do learn from other schools and offer such programmes in time to come. Maybe they may do it for your batch of parents?? Since there are always improvement along the years batch after batch...

Sure June. We are truly living up to the name of KS parents.

BTW, do you have any idea when the P1 orientation wld be?
japhys - did NA organise any \"parents preparation course\" to prepare us for the Maths that the kids wld be doing? Cos I understand that sch like Pei Chun does hv that cos a lot of parents hv no idea how to teach the kids maths as the kids are learning the \"modelling\" method which is very different from what we learned when we were young.

          TIA :)
3bagsfull: I think should be October or November ba.

Actually come to think of this, I may not hv mastered the KS-ism yet cos I have not enrolled him any enrichment class at all other than those that he gets at his childcare centre.

At his childcare, I let him do both Chinese & English Speech & Drama plus the Science Discovery only. Other than his piano and TKD, he's just a normal kid playing/watching TV during most of his spare time. However, he loves to read and he reads very well. He can even handle National Geographic Kids which is meant for kids ard 7-9 yrs old.

My only worry is his Chinese cos he is more comfy in English, both speaking and reading wise.

Will you be putting your son on schoobus?

In fact I had been hearing a lot from other parents that these days teachers don't teach a lot and they \"work very closely \" with parents..Have you guys heard anything on this?

Hmm, that explains why Singapore is called a "tuition nation"… Welcome to the family!

This is even more apparent in the SA1 papers. Question formats completely different from what were taught in the class, came out. The outcome of the results send many parents running to enrichment/tuition centres from June

The outcome of the results send many parents running to enrichment/tuition centres from June I must say that the programmes my son has been going to helps to provide him the exposure.

I am one who believe in giving the child the exposure during these early years when he can still afford the time. Thus he goes to several classes, both academic and non-academic. I am fortunate that he enjoys all the classes he goes to. My friend often says I am really lucky as they have difficulty convincing their children to attend classes.

3bagsfull - my son also goes to TKD...don't tell me it's with Kembangan CC... πŸ˜„
japhys - Yes indeed he's at kembangan CC for the TKD class too. Where do u stay? I hv a feeling that we might be neighbours.

My son just joins not too long ago, thus he just passed his white belt recently. Now he's under white-yellow.

I am at Lorong G...how about you? 😎
Ah... my boy joined this March and has just passed his yellow belt. πŸ™‚

I am at Lengkong Tiga - walking distance from the CC.

I think for my case, it may not be as easy to plan for enrichment classes for him cos I am working full time. I don't hv a maid and my MIL doesnt really dare to venture outside our place so I can practically only send him to classes when I can ferry him myself, which is typically the weekend.

I definitely wld like to reserve weekend for him as his \"official rest days\" when he enters P1 next year so I am also not sure what I can do with his free time during the weekdays.

BTW, any info abt the Berries at the Kembangan CC? Had once wanted to find out more from them but they are not particularly responsive when I emailed them so I gave up... πŸ™‚
