Now that Phase 2B is over and there are left over places, I'm wondering if my chance for 1-2 km under phase 2C is high for RVPS. Understood that there were balloting for < 1Km under phase 2C last year. I'm really nervous. Just hope to get over this quickly.P2B day 2 (19 July 2011)

Hi Blurblur,Hi Goon,
No worries, 1-2km no need to ballot.
46 applicants for <1km
18 applicants for 1-2km
16 applicants for > 2km
64 spaces under phase 2B becoz 1 from Phase 2A2 dropped out last minute producing 1 more space. There were still movements within last half hour thus school had no chance of informing those >2km that there are no more vacancies.
I'm newbie here, just reported!
Lotsa info to absorb in a short span of time.
May I ask how you manage to get the info on number of applications according to the distance? Call the school?
46 applicants for <1km
18 applicants for 1-2km
16 applicants for > 2km
You mentioned that no balloting is needed for 1-2km.
How do we determine which distance phase needs to go for balloting?
Is there a pre-determined number of places available for each distance phase?
Sorry for so many questions!

For RVPS, those staying within 1 km sure safe. Those staying 1-2km will have d chance to go thru balloting but will be a tough fight. But at least is not like last year, 1-2km no chance to register at all at 2c.

Yes, call the school.sakurachan:
There are 64 vacancies. There are 46 applicants in the < 1 km category, and 18 applicants in the 1-2 km category. These add up to 64, which is equal to the number of vacancies. So, there is no balloting for those in the 1-2 km category. You mentioned that no balloting is needed for 1-2km.
How do we determine which distance phase needs to go for balloting?sakurachan:
No. The vacancies are taken up by applicants based on distance. So, if the number of applicants staying within 1 km from the school are less than the vacancies available, applicants in the next group (1-2 km) gets to go in or take part in the balloting, depending on the number of applicants in this second group vs the remaining vacancies available. Is there a pre-determined number of places available for each distance phase?

Thanks Chocpockie for sharing your thoughts. I guess I better look into a 2nd choice. -

So that means those residing >2km in Phase 2B won't even get a chance to ballot, right?
So if they are still keen, they would need to try their luck at Phase 2C which depends on distance again?
