Opinions of the Primary School Registration System

puff:
Too bad we r not the minister :rotflmao: :rotflmao:
Minister said SINGAPOREANS FIRST but cannot exclude foreigners.
PRs say they also pay tax...so should be entitled to fair benefits.
Honestly, Phase 1 and 2 should be PURELY for Singaporean born parents and kids. PRs are enjoying benefits like Singaporeans...just that they don't vote. Sad to say, if they are not happy here, they can just pack and go back to country of origin. -
phtthp:
:goodpost:yes puff, i totally agree with you.
Phase 1, P2A, P2B, P2C and P2CS should be applicable only to SG born citizens.
PRs should come in after all SG kids enter succesfully, but before foreigners. -

We had the chance to vote for change but STILL we voted in a PAP govt so let's not complain now.ya lor, we are only 'xiao ren wu' (small fly), far away from an Education minister.
kekekekekek
:snuggles: :imcool:
but at times, i dread to think what kind of vacancies our grandchildren can possibly have 30 yrs later ? :?:
Wait til 2016... I bet it'll be the same senario again. -

We voted in a PAP govt with the HOPE they will LISTEN and DO SOMETHING since they have the resources.phtthp:

Actually I don't want to think so far like whether my grandchildren will enjoy Phase 2A (although I hope it stays lah)...but some parents feel it's unfair that children of ex-students get to register under this phase...based from an article from an unhappy parent in ST forum yesterday. -
We can all go to Heng Swee Kiat's FB page and make some noise. Ah Heng was from RI (was 2nd top student in his cohort wor!), maybe he can understand?
But this fella a bit kiasu and cautious, not like Ah Cow

I seriously doubt it... anyway, they are trying hard to integrate the foreigners lar, not alienate them.We can all go to Heng Swee Kiat's FB page and make some noise. Ah Heng was from RI (was 2nd top student in his cohort wor!), maybe he can understand?

So good luck to us Singaporeans.

itβs not just Phase 1 affected.
all Phase 2A, 2B, 2C also affected.
30 yrs later from now - this PR kid will grow up, get married & give birth. Then their kid also join under P2A alumni privilege. Then we SG citizens got to fight with these PR kids, 30 yrs later.
like that, gradually Singaporeans losing birth right status to PRs eventually one day. Already PRs, foreigners come & take our jobs, now even education also seize our place. This is getting serious if we fellow Singaporeans dun stand together, unite together and do something for our next generation, ie. our grandchildren, great grandchildren, etc.
already SG kids now find it so tough to get into P2B, P2C phases. Slought so many hours as parent volunteers also cant get in.
40 yrs ago, it was our Singaporean forefathers who took pain to build up this small little island, Singapore land from scratch, bit by bit slowly. Back then in 1965s we had nothing. When we sang βmari kitahβ national anthem, all of us sang loudly with pride because we could break off from Malaysia, become independent nation. Education was our only glimpse source of hope, bring us up a better life, not remain in poverty.
Our parents raised us up not easy. Our parents generation 40 yrs ago worked very hard, hoping that our generation and next after enjoy good, stable lives in Singapore. If they realize one day that this not going to be so because we Singaporeans lose out to PRs one day, denied a place in schools one day β¦ -
when Minister said SINGAPOREANS FIRST but cannot exclude foreigners, this is correct. We did not exclude any PR. Are we denying PR kids a place to study ? No! Of course NOT.
it's just that we want PRs to queue up behind SG born kids. After all our SG citizen kids enter successfully one by one from Phase 1 to 2CS, then it is their turn next to enter. Their kids will still get chance to study in SG. -
NonKiasuDad:
.... :celebrate:But how many within 1km will be Singaporeans Vs how many PRs? If you are Singaporean and live within 1km, should have a very good chance?
Any idea how many PRs tried last year in P2C? I see quite a number of ang moh kia going to RGPS in the afternoon. They cannot be Singaporeans right? -
KSP:
Not Singaporean, no chance? PRs can try for any phases although with 1 vote vs 2 votes for Singaporeans so why no chance?
if they are not singaporean they have no chance to get into RGPS at all cos all vacancies will be filled by the end of P2C.... PRs can only register in P3......NonKiasuDad:

if they are not local then most probably they are in expats term and they would rather send their children to international schools....
Non-Singaporeans and non-PRs can register in P3, if I am not wrong.
What I am saying is that if PR can get in last year when there was balloting for <1km, that means that there must be lots of PRs trying and less Singaporeans trying otherwise, how come PRs can get in??
