All About Parent Volunteers (PV)

This year the school of our choice had to ballot during Ph2B less than 1km. Historically this was not so. I am just wondering what to do now. Give up PV or still take that chance that when our turn comes up next year won't be so hot...any views or similar experiences? :scratchhead:
For me is, I'll still take the chance. If possible, move closer to the school? Or choose another school closer to PV? -

Hi, I'm new here too.
My son is going to 3 (born in 2008), should I start contacting schools for PV?
my house is within 1km from Rulang. But call me crazy, I'm also considering Nanhua, just wonder is it useful to volunteer at Nanhua? since my house is so far away.... -

I think u should try PV in Rulang instead of Nan Hua. :roll:Hi, I'm new here too.

If you were to register this year as a PV of both schools, you would still have a chance to ballot but no chance at all in Nanhua...Hi, I'm new here too.

depends on how oversubscribed it was?
in any case, always useful to have a back-up plan... so at least you won't feel too disappointed if the first choice doesn't work out... -

hi 1amber,
if you really like the school, just go for pv first and monitor the situation. it is 50/50 but better than nothing. but do have a backup plan as well.
there is no rule to say you can pv at 2 schools too. -

Unless u intend to move within 1km of Nanhua,, else u can forget about it. Nanhua would need balloting for 2B if u stay further than 1km, based on past 2 years trend. And also, Nanhua has a veerrrrry small PV intake, it is almost impossible to get accepted.Hi, I'm new here too.

I guess ur school should be either KongHwa, Nanyang or Rulang. Since u have already been accepted as a PV, maybe u should consider moving within 1km to the school. U can also ask the PV committe how many PV they have accepted for your child's cohort and compare it to the number of vacancies this year.
It is good to have a backup plan too, do u have another school in mind within 1km of where u stay? U can sign up as a PV there too if there is still time. And yeah, u can pv in more than one school.
