All About Aircon (New, Maintenance, related components)

Hi people…
Which air con servicing company are you using at the moment and find their service great? I am looking for a trustworthy air con servicing company to service my residential units. What is their charges like?
I feel that the very few that I use recently hasn’t been doing a good job for me. I am sick and tired dealing with these people and hope to find a company that is trustworthy and really do a good job (honestly). After all, I am not an expert in that. Even if they tell me in layman’s term, I might not necessary understand.
I have to pay min. of 100 bucks each time they come for servicing. The last time I had to pay 200+++ cos something in the air con unit blow out! So my pocket also blow loh…
Thanks for sharing… -
I am using Real Cool now. Their charges are like ...
1 fan coil unit $40
2 fan coil units $70
3? I dont know I seldom service so many at one time coz other than the 2 in my bedroom, the rest are hardly used.
gas top-up $10-20 (sometimes give free if got other job)
full gas top-up $30
Some simple miscellaneous cleaning tasks $10
These are estimates based on what they charge me.
Caveats:
1) depending on who turn up, sometimes they do not clean the floor etc fully (maybe rushing for other jobs). I have other experience with another company where they even vacuum your floor, but they are technically not very strong.
2) All their mechanics I encountered appeared to be Malaysians from the way they speak Mandarin, and they will usually converse in Mandarin, if you are alright with it.
Coincidentally, they came to solve my aircon problem this morning and they brought a (young) senior, who solved problem in 15 mins. We were tracking this problem for the past 2 years and I am so :D. Now just to
for the next 1 week to confirm that the problem is solved. -
Hi, I was quite fed up on the charges and service till one day, we decided to buy a steamer to clean ourselves. After checking and asking, my colleague recommend me this foam type of can spray solution, available from those DIY hardware stores. My aircon problem was the air not cold enough and there was this puff puff sound, like something get stuck and irregular flow of air. After using that solution, the problem is solved !!! Easy to use and not expensive (about $10 a can).

daisyt, you are right. there are some cleanings that we could do to help reduce our bills. Cleaning air filters, spraying the cleaning foam on the heat dissipation fins, are simple tasks that I would undertake.
There are other cleanings that would require the mechanics though, such as washing the compressor (by water or chemical), full washing of the heat fins, clearing the drainage pipes, topping up gas etc. if you are a heavy user, it may make sense to sign up package. -
hi heutistmeintag, clearing of drainage pipes, if you have a wet vacuum cleaner (eg. vax or electrolux), you can suck out a lot of jellies, dirts and water from the outlet pipe. I do it once a month then will solve water dripping problem.
The rest, true, must get the mechanics ...

I go back to the company of the "brand" of air-cond. They usually have a servicing unit too.
