hoylj, thanks for sharing. I was an old girl but many things have changed. Comforting to know that.

Wow, u actually moved house to be near good sch 😛 I'm not as 'hardworking' didn't really do much. Would have loved to send my daughter to a sch nearer home but I very much want her to be in a girls sch. And the nearest is St Nichs which is out for me.

MCS seems to be good in rhythmic gym. Is it tough? Am thinking of that as a cca for my daughter in future since she's in ballet and it's something along the same line.
Gorilla, I didn't try for St Nicks either, as I didn't want a academically stressful environment, and I figured there is no point risking the balloting. I did rhythmic gym during my school days, and its very fun. Hopefully my girl will enjoy that too.

michyms, yep my friend wasn't successful in the balloting 😞 So now she has to activate her backup plan.

U r thinking of rhythmic gym for your girl too? It sounds like fun, hopefully the girls will enjoy.

HI cantbearit2 , sorry for my late reply and thanks for the feedback. Sounds this is a good school. I'm looking for a school not only focus on academic but value charater and moral building as well. My DD was with Marymount Kindergarten before and the loving/ caring/ supprting environment is quite impressive. is this same as in MCS?

My DD is in P2 is in the school team for rhythmic gym. She really enjoys her school. Like many of us here, I used to move house to get her to the 'best' school back in 2008. That school balloted her out. To this date, I have no regrets sending her to MCS. The new principal is also very encouraging. The website and newsletters have greatly improved now.

Hi, we wanted to send her to SCGS initially as we lived just opposite the school. She also dances classical ballet and hence we thought her best to be in a school which excels in dance. But again, I am so glad she is doing so well in gym besides her ballet. She also plays the piano.

Yes, MCS has secured government funding for their excellence in rhythmic gym which lasts for 3 years. The girls have been winning medals. Of course, St Nicks still holds the championship title for many years. R Gym is very graceful and you r right, it's like ballet. In fact, one of my girlfriends told me that ballet builds up the core and other sports like R Gym adds on to this core.

hoylj, where do you live? You live near MCS?

Nope, unfortunately. But not too far since it's close to major highway. We are at Bt Panjang.

Hoyji, so you were living in Bukit Timah and then moved to Bukit Panjang? What made you choose MCS since it’s not that near? SCGS is my alumni but it’s too far for me, since the school bus picks up at 5am plus in the morning, so I picked MCS since it’s a good all girls school that is only 10 mins away.

Yup, moved to Bt Panjang. Was in Phase 2C Supplement liao and all girls' school places got snapped up. So, only chance is either Bt Timah Primary or Marymount or waitlist in any of the all-girls school. MCS is good especially their speech and drama. They won the annual Public Speaking competition.
