I guess it depends on how much the parent values the choiced school compared to one the kid gets into. By now I have known many parents who have transferred their kids to 'better' schools in their eyes, ie. affiliated to good sec schools so that their kids will have an easier time in pri schools/ SAP or GEP schools so that their kids have a more competitive learning environment so that their kids will not be too proud/ can have better CCA or reputable school coaches to train their kids in competitive sports etc... many are willing to wait till P3...
i think kids' self esteem impt. maybe not the most impt but rather impt. so i hope my kids won't be struggling to breathe in a big pond of many huge fish but rather be happily swimming in a pond with some big fish, some small fish, some medium fish in a carefree manner.

I would weigh the chance on the last day on what's the chances for within 1km.
Good to have a back up plan if CHIJ TPY doesnt work out -

my friend and i even double checked the Higher chi and chi tb. compared them. all same except for some additional chapter or notes. very minor. so let's say if you received higher chi tb from friend but your kid's school does Chinese, still can use higher chi one. not much diff.
i have quite a no. of friends with kids just a yr older than mine. so quite good. furthermore those kids take very good care of their books!
but by ds2's time, i might have to source from others cos 3rd hand a bit CMI. too well-worn already. or perhaps my ds1 a bit messy, and cannot take good care :oops: :mad: -
