Received Hong Wen's confirmation letter for successful P1 registration today
Orientation is on 18 Nov and starts at 12:30pm.
Coincedentally, it falls on the same day as my son's CC year end concert. Existing parents can share the content of the orientation and normally how long does it last? It will be pretty rush for us that day.
Cheers. -
Good luck to all parents registering for P2C this week!

Hi keendaddy,
I think HWS is very fast on communication, really like that such mails are sent out fast.
My experience of orientation. Parents and kids go to 2nd floor (outside multipurpose hall) to register. Kids are brought to classrooms in their groups to do activities (this was NOT his class to be). Parents will receive a pack of stuff to read at home. thereafter it’s to the MPH (multi purpose hall) to listen to speeches and understand what the school is about and be introduced to the various depts.
There were some ‘booths’ set up outside the library/canteen area. One sold school shoes/socks; another was for transport; one was Proteach (reminder: parents who want to sign up must do so very fast and early…don’t wait cos the spaces go out very very fast). Also there was a booth that had used P1 books - I found it very useful becos we didn’t have to buy BN txtbooks (but limited topics and conditions vary).
Also, somewhere/how there was a letter detailing what things to bring on which day to school so kids don’t have to go to school with a fullpack - somehow they sorted the books by topic and day by day, kids will bring a bit at a time.
For the materials to buy, I liked the bookshop auntie - very no nonsense. told me straight off optional means dunnid to buy.
That was last year. not sure how it will be this year. But full commendations for HWS for doing a good job introducing the school to parents and for their organisation and communication. -
Hi, can someone tell me more about the student care in hw? Do they provide tuition? Wat do they do in the centre? Is it very crowded with many kids ard?

Are the students assessed during orientation day? If so I will have to let my DD1 know that she can’t attend her kindy graduation day.

I only know they do activities in there. And it's only after that day the kids are grouped into classes.
Last year when I asked, no one step up to say it's assessment leh... -
thanks for the detail feedback hquek. Normally how many sets of uniform to get?

Hmmmm.....if only there's a way to know for sure. I know DD1 will be disappointed to miss her kindy graduation concert / ceremony. She will feel left out when the other kids are rehearsing and stuff.SAHM_TAN:

If it's just activities to occupy them while the parents are processing admin stuff, I might still consider to let her and her bro participate in their kindy concert.
I will try to check with the school.
Thanks for sharing
