            Hi

My DS2 was diagnosed with HFMD yesterday. He was complaining of sore throat and think due to the ulcers in his mouth, he was in pain. Now no appetite to eat as he can’t swallow. But have been giving him plenty of water.

Thanks to this forum and parents contributing ideas in this thread, read about giving ice-cream during this time. Tried giving him ice-cream last night when he kept complaining of the pain in his mouth and he was happily eating it.

Would need some advice here : my DS1 is 12 yr old and I am quite afraid that this HFMD may pass on to him. I’ve asked DS1 to sleep in another bedrm (they actually shared the same bedrm) last night, separated their utensils, keep 1 toilet solely for my DS2 to use. What about disinfecting e.g. toys (but they don’t play together now), books, etc? Do I have to do disinfect everyday since they don’t share all those things at home during this period? appreciate advices, thanks.

                  Hi BlurBee

Thanks for your concern. My DS2 is well now and tomorrow, we are going to the doctor for review. My DH and I have already discussed, even if the doctor will to issue a cert. to confirm that he is fit to go back to school, we are going to keep him at home for a few more days - to ensure that he has fully recovered.

My DS2 just recovered from HFMD 2 weeks ago…and now the skin around his toes (both feet) starts peeling. Is it related to the HFMD?

Yup. It’s pretty normal once the blisters clear.
