From I what I get from the letter to parents, it seems that the school has the capacity to accommodate all primary levels in one single session. So going single session during 2013 is highly possible.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
16. SINGLE SESSION FOR LAST 2 WEEKS OF TERM 4
16.1 From 8 November to 17 November, the P1 and P2 pupils will be attending school in the morning together with the other levels. This is to facilitate the end-of–year administrative matters and also rehearsals for the Annual Prize Giving Day on 18 November 2011.
16.2 The school has already liaised with the bus vendor for the necessary bus arrangements for the P1 and P2 pupils taking the school bus. We seek the understanding of our parents/guardians fetching their children/wards home to make the necessary arrangements.
16.3 The reporting and dismissal timings for the P1 and P2 pupils during the 2 weeks would be as follows:
Day Reporting Time Dismissal Time
Monday to Friday (excluding Wednesday) 7.20 am 1.10 pm
Wednesday 7.20 am 12 noon
16.4 There would be no change in the reporting and dismissal timings for the P3 to P6 pupils. -

I see quite a list of CCA listed. Are they all available for P1 and she can only select one CCA for the year (since it is only on wed)?Dragonflow, the wednesday Modular CCAs is for Primary 1 &2 .
My suggestions to you are they must know a little about Han Yu Ping Ying.
My regrets is not teaching her mandarin earlier but now she is able to keep up with the school's lesson.
You can look up the school website, under the letters for parents and more or less you will know what to expect for the coming 2012.
Hanyu PinYin is alright for my girl since she is attending Hanyu Pinyin class per week in school currently. I think YZPS have a little more emphasis on the Chinese language given the school's traditions and background. I am a ex-Yangzhengnite, the school just adopted the English teaching during my time. -

Welcome, your girl will get a place since you are within 1km (from past history).Hi dragonflow n others,
Thks a lot for the sharing on the school. Really has been informative.
Will be registering my girl under 2c phrase next week . Hopefully, no surprise . Shd be able to get in easily since mine in within 1 km
.
How is the Chinese standard in the school. The main reason why I choose the sch rather than plms is the chinese. I prefer a stronger Chinese culture sch. I thought one or two years ago ,I saw in the newspaper that the sch mgt committee is applying to moe for SAP sch status.
If it got it, it will definitely become a 'hot' school.
Yes, it is important to ensure that our children are able to write and speak the Chinese language to a higher level nowadays. They should also learn to understand and appreciate the Chinese history and culture. This will go a long way in their life as China will be the major economy in Asia (replacing US sooner or later). -

Wow, lots of old boys/girls.

Should be the 15 who registered for 2A. I have also registered my boy too. Can we request for Wednesday's morning classes to be shifted to Friday?
1. Long weekend for anyone considering a short trip out of Singapore.
2. Malay pupils can go off earlier as it is Friday.
3. No logistical nightmare in the middle of the week.. -
For me, I think it is ok for Friday. The child will be more motivated to wake up earlier that day as it is going to be a weekend and no school tomorrow.

The school might have problems accommodating to this change as it will affects the CCA which is scheduled to be conducted during Wednesday afternoon. It will have to be planned ahead before the year 2012 starts. You probably have to call the school and seek a way to do this first.
Any supporter of this suggestion by slepland? -
Yes. Fully supported.

Changing to Fri sounds like a good idea, but knowing how the govt works, i seriously doubt they will even consider it… It obviously takes thorough planning for the school to plan the rosters of the different classes/levels way beforehand, to ensure that things will run smoothly. Asking them to change would be a big jump out of that comfort zone…

Agreed that there may be difficulty to get the school to even try to do that just because a few parents feel this is more suitable. However, we should try to engage the school more closely so that we can create the awareness that parents are willing to work together with the school to nuture a good learning and motivated environment for our children. Which in turn (we all hope they can be a better person and have better results.
I think this is what the school wants as well. I am not sure how is the current situation of the Parent Support Group in the school and whether it is one possible avenue to address parents’ concerns and suggestions to the school. -
There is a briefing session for the new intake in November. This may be a good time to bring up the matter to the school.
