Travel: USA - Florida/Orlando

Emelyn:
Qatar is world airline of the year for 2011 --> http://www.worldairlineawards.com/3Boys,
Thanks for all your inputs !
Will check out Qatar...
:rahrah: :rahrah:
But Doha is a nothing like Changi though...... -
Last thing, if you are flying into Washington DC, better to arrive at Reagan National than at Dulles if you are flying domestic. Its closer to downtown by a lot (cheaper taxi ride), and getting around terminals is not the nightmare that it is at Dulles.
-
My own experience is that, apart from Delta, it’s cheaper if you book the domestic flights separately. If you’re planning to go only to Orlando, just get the cheapest air ticket to any US city and take a domestic flight from there.

As usual, parents here have been a treasure trove of useful info... while googling about Disney, i realised that there is a Disneyland in California and Disney World in Orlando. Any views/ comparisons between the two?
I am keen to go NY (watching too much White Collar ;)) so may consider flight to NY then down south to Florida (since the weather sounds kinder especially year-end)
Is UA still 'best' option or should I look at SQ or even Qatar?
What about travelling to Disney world- Orlando in March, especially if New York becomes definite part of itinerary? Any views?
Thanks! -

they have 4 worlds in Orlando, so obviously it is much larger, and newer, and the weather is good too during year end, not that bitter cold compared with NYC.As usual, parents here have been a treasure trove of useful info... while googling about Disney, i realised that there is a Disneyland in California and Disney World in Orlando. to avoid snow storm during year end, asians can reach orlando via Dubai / London / Europe instead of the standard route via SQ 26, depending which airlines' fare enticed you -
Thank you, VK2010 for the prompt reply. I guess Orlando is better choice, nearer to NY and by the coast (read great holiday post about Siesta Key so may try to squeeze that in- its not always one takes family holiday to US
Will keep your views in mind when planning.
Someone mentioned about going after Thanksgiving... will check fares before deciding time to travel. We already planned couple of trips this year but the low US$ is too tempting not to take advantage of

If you choose this option, make sure you have more than a few hours to catch the connecting flight for any unforseen delays. Moreoever, you may/will have to collect your baggages, check in & check out again, move from one terminal to another. So do make enough allowance for these. -
if I am not wrong, US domestic flights charges extra for each check-in bags. But if you fly the same airline for both international & domestic legs, you are considered international transit passenger and entitled to same check-in bags weight limit for domestic as per international. furthermore, your check-in bags will be transfered from the domestic flight to the international flight directly, no need to collect, clear security and check-in again.

Sounds like very stressful to plan for a trip.
I have been monitoring air tickets to Washington. So far, Qatar Airways is the best.
I better talk to myself and hubby everyday about the trip, to keep the momentum going.
Otherwise… we will likely end up in Genting… -
