      yeoh_tt:
Dear Tankee, thank you for the advice. It sounds sensible to me. I think will go for Ngee Ann.

BTW, do you know if it is still possible to transfer to Tao Nan later on?
yes, it is possible to get transfer to Tao Nan later on. DS class had someone transferred in middle of term 1, when a classmate withdrawn due to her dad's oversea posting.

Register your interest with the school but be prepared to wait & double investment in uniforms, textbooks and stationaries. And maybe talk to David, and see if he could help on your position in the waiting list. Afterall, you did volunteered for TNS.

      good luck !

Last year, when I seek the SHHK letter to register my DS, I was a member of SHHK for 2+ years, but my hours of volunteering was less than 20hours.

I understand when I attended a briefing in 2009 that the letter depends on the tenure of membership and not on the number of hours volunteered, though they encourage you to be active in the clan.

Not sure if criteria has changed this year.

        blur2:
Now they change to 50 hrs 😞
10 hours from some other school activities πŸ˜›

Can anyone share (shhk member) how many volunteer hours they put in to get the recommendation letter ? Asking for a friend who joined shhk for 2 yrs now, with 20+ hrs of volunteers and register for next year ...

I can appreciate the dilemma you're in. But if you've moved within 1km just for TNS, which in my humble opinion is a huge investment and sacrifice, then you need to really reflect on the ROI you're getting out of this P1 reg exercise. Having volunteered, it has also accorded you a second shot in phase 2C if you're willing to take the chance. You've already invested money, time and efforts for TNS so do you really want to bug out now or stay the course? This is something which you need to decide and come to terms with. And I certainly agree with the many good folks here who have cautioned about the comparatively higher risk of phase 2C, which leaves little options for phase 2C supplement if unsuccessful. It is a case of high risk, high return for TNS, or you can drop the notion and settle for the security of a slot in Ngee Ann Primary, which is not a bad school. At the end of the day, you must know that your efforts are not wasted, and live with the decisions you make knowing that you've done your best for your children. Whichever your choice is, I wish you and all the parents applying in phase 2C the very best of luck. God bless. πŸ˜ƒ

          Hi Augtsh,

What you have said touch my heart, we were in the same position as yeoh_tt, we volunteer for TN and bought a unit within 1km. We have considered all that you have mentioned above during our decision making in purchasing a within 1km unit (it was a difficult decision, afterall not everybody can just buy another unit easily without over-stretching especially when the ppty prices is going upward). I was prepared to go all the way to phase 2c if I got ballot out in phase 2B. I thought to myself if I still get ballout out of phase 2c, I have no choice but to go to try our backup school and can only console myself that at least I still have a \"within 1 km ppty unit\" and hopefully can make some money out of it either by renting or selling it. (luckily I got a place after much much πŸ™, and need not go through another week of anguish).

If yeoh_tt decides to try for phase 2c, all the best to you. I wish all the parents volunteer who are unsuccessful in phase 2b and now trying for phase 2c , manage to get a place in TN. 加油!

Hi happymom. Congrats on your success in phase 2B. At the end of the day, I just feel that the lucky lot of us who are already done with our P1 reg can and should help to provide rational perspectives to fellow comrades who are still in the race, and some emotionally drained by now. It is unnerving to fight in phase 2C, and understandably so. If we can help by offering a more complete perspective of things so no parent is blind-sided by either anxiety or unfamiliarity with the implications of their decisions, why not? πŸ˜ƒ

To all parents applying in phase 2C, hang in there. You’re almost at the finishing line. Be strong for your children, and God bless. πŸ˜ƒ

Hi happymom. My child is already registered in TNS through the earlier phases. Maybe my earlier messages didn't quite convey that. Apologies.

Thanks anyway for the good luck dust. I always have room for more good luck in life! πŸ˜ƒ

Here’s a piece of information for the parents of all P1-going children next year after a visit to my elder child’s pediatrician this morning. There are some recent changes to the National Childhood Immunisation Schedule, with the latest stating the need for children ages 6-7 to be given a) Oral Sabin - 2nd booster, and b) MMR - Booster (2nd dose). As I was advised, both vaccines will be given at Primary 1 by MOH in school at no charge. So parents, there’s no need to waste money on them as part of the P1 prep.
