P3 this year...So far, the furthest she travelled is Japan :(
It is very do-a-ble. My kids were 6+ & 9 when we went to Orlando. The total 23 hour flight is made bearable with transits.tankee:
Why dun you consider USA West Coast for a start ? I was initially contemplating to go Orlando as well as have been to West for couple of times already. However, after much discussion, still decided to settle for West as child has yet to travel to USA. DH is afraid DD might not used to long haul flight. To West Coast, is 18.5 hours already, cannot imagine to Orlando. :snooze:
In the end, booked with Dynasty Travel for 14 days trip to West Coast this coming Dec, some more got free Air Macau tickets to Macau.. Good Deal :boogie:
how old is your DD? -

London and Paris, any day of the week, is more interesting than California. And....if you reallllly must, there is a Paris Disneyland you can go to.
I am also very headache now deciding between going to London & Paris or to California! -

if I am not wrong, US domestic flights charges extra for each check-in bags. But if you fly the same airline for both international & domestic legs, you are considered international transit passenger and entitled to same check-in bags weight limit for domestic as per international. furthermore, your check-in bags will be transfered from the domestic flight to the international flight directly, no need to collect, clear security and check-in again.
Yes - US$25 per bag. But still worth it. In those cases I checked, it can cost more than double the fare if I include the domestic flights. In 1 case, the difference is between about S$2k and S$7k+. If you want to book the domestic flights together, only US airlines offer fares comparable to when you book the domestic flights separately. -

Yes, unfortunately. But I guess if the price difference is substantial, it's worth the trouble.rosemummy:
My own experience is that, apart from Delta, it's cheaper if you book the domestic flights separately. If you're planning to go only to Orlando, just get the cheapest air ticket to any US city and take a domestic flight from there.
If you choose this option, make sure you have more than a few hours to catch the connecting flight for any unforseen delays. Moreoever, you may/will have to collect your baggages, check in & check out again, move from one terminal to another. So do make enough allowance for these. -

I have on occasion, booked separate, connecting flights, but on the same 'alliance', e.g. Star Alliance, and they were kind enough to check my luggage all the way through. Of course, you still need to pick up your stuff at the first port of entry in the US and bring through customs, but you do not need to do a second domestic check in.rosemummy:

Hi!
Iโm planning to travel to Orlando this Nov too. Iโve booked Sin-Houston on SQ. Then weโre taking a domestic flight to Orlando. The price difference makes it worth the trouble, since DH insists on travelling long-haul on SQ. Iโll remember to give enough time between connecting flights.
And Iโve been told that that the US immigration is a lot more friendly in Houston, than in either LAX or NY.
Weโre doing a self-planned, self-booked free-n-easyholiday. Does anyone have any advice on renting a car there?
Thanks! -
