Yes, for the japs, even going to convenience shop must also make-up a bit.

Years ago, I used to put on make up even for nearby grocery trips. But seriously, the only people looking at me are grannies and aunties, asking me for advice which brand of 面线 not so soggy, the latest detergent effective or not, helping grannies to read price tags because they've 老花. So I don't bother to put on make up for grocery trips anymore. Anyway, pushing trolley and dragging bags of grocery is not a pretty sight even with make up 😆

Speaking of women ageing faster than men, do you gals think you look younger, at your age or older?

Would you consider botox sometime in future?
i think i age a lot with each pregnancy too. but no one guess my age before, so i dunno. everytime people meet me and Dh will only comment on how young HE looks, so i guess that means i am old lor... i am younger than him some more, but no one say i look young. so sian to marry someone who has boyish face, everyone comment on him only. :rotflmao:

don't think will consider botox, very scared of botch ups and very scared of needles.

hmm..wondering wat kind of products do mummies here use? cost effective and multi purpose? care to share?

last time when i was working=spending power,my faves are:
chanel sheer illuminating base: gv really natural glow without looking oily, abit goes along way. i apply on my cheekbones, chin and forehead area then top with loose power.

SK2: hmm..think is overrated. my skin no crystal clear leh.

la pairie eye caviar: works but super ex. nw cannot afford.

fancl tense up collagen drink: i buy in japan, 40%cheaper. muz be discipline to drink evday or ev other day.

makeup products i prefer mac and benefit esp their concealers. mac has a sliver clr fairy dust which is very dense pigmented. i put some into my loose power and it gvs such a natural sheen.

i oso like faceshop skincare, not too rich for our climate and uses natural ingredients. but their masks not gd, i find not effective at all.

for scrubs, i like clinque. i wanna make it a habit to use sunscreen but find the smell very turnoff.

A topic very close to heart and wallet- especially when 'cost-effective' and 'multi-purpose' are mentioned...

There was once I thought my skin will remain as good, thanks to SK-ll's pitera, Clarins a fave, along with Biotherm, Clinique and occasional Estee Lauder. Besides numerous paper bags filled with latest products and promos, the generous ladies behind the counter know that more samples make a me returning customer... and one day while unpacking all the numerous packages, made me guilty about the waste created.
Somewhere along the way, when we adjusted to single-income (and for a short while no-income), i discovered the delights of natural solutions.

I am so pleased to say that all my beauty supplies are in my kitchen/ pantry and larder (now saving for a mini-fridge for the bedroom to move my beauty products)

I think the following blogs can explain better my love-affair with natural and effective solutions.

Really why pay (more) for chemical/ preservative laden products when freshly-made coconut milk makes my hair silky smooth and shiny, raw (or manuka) honey cleanses and moisturizes my face fuss-free and yummily and (free) gourmet coffee grounds make the most delightful scrub that deodorizes the bathroom and is proven my no 1 destresser!!!! I can go on wax lyrical... but i shant bore you all. Just read my inspirations-

(I am currently part of the honey challenge and so loving it! There is a plethora of do-able tried and tested recipes here 😉

            http://www.vivawoman.net/category/organic/homemade/
(A local blog- some of you may find this more relevant)

While sharing with another friend, I just realised that going for organic (or natural) SLS/ parabens- free products need not cost a bomb at all! We dont need more costly stuff in these expensive times... ;D

wow... :thankyou: both of you for sharing!

i never know about both types, the natural and the commercial. all sound very alien to me. so far the most i ventured beyond the supermarket brands like pantene and biore are The Body Shop and Face Shop. very suaku in this area.

i think it is very important for women especially sahm to keep her looks.

i always put on face mask on every tues and friday. alternate between body shop face mask and origins intensive drink up mask which i leave overnite.

not too fussy over toner but for cream, i have been using le mer for the past few years. i like biotherm gel cream too.

recently came across kiehl’s oil free range of toner and cream and will probably try them once mine run out.

was thinking of botox too but saw the side effects so not that keen.

heard of people eating placenta for nice skin - anyone tried them before?

A few years ago I was given an SK-II set. Not long after I started using it, several people came up to tell me I had great skin. I didn’t think much of it then, because I had always had good skin. So when the SKII finished, I didn’t bother replenishing. Too expensive!

Fast forward a few years…then I started to get concerned about aging, and maintaining my good skin. Just nice, I received SK-II as a birthday present. Same thing, not long after I started, several friends and acquantainces came up to me to tell me I had great skin. And it wasn’t as if they were passing remarks. People either a) made an effort to come up to me and tell me; b) were talking to me halfway and suddenly stopped mid-sentence to talk about my skin. Mind you, these were people I see quite regularly, so it’s like suddenly one day they noticed my skin and were sufficiently moved to talk to me about it.

I’ve never really paid attention to my skin (I guess I’ve been spoilt by my low maintenance skin - used to wash with cetaphil, then some random cheap moisturizer, if I remembered) so, honestly, i can’t say I see a difference. But since receiving the compliments, I’m wondering if it really is working its magic. Of course, it could simply be by virtue of the fact that I am making the effort to moisturise etc. etc.

Still have quite a bit of SK-II left. when it finishes, I wonder if I should spend the money on more expensive skincare, or just buy cheaper supermarket brands…

Botox will only be localized isn't it? Once you start to age, evidence will show up everywhere and sagging too (eyes, neck, white hair, age spots)...how to hide worrrr.... so better to accept and age naturally and gracefully.....just try to maintain.

I have heard both good & so-so reviews about SKII....guess really depend on individual and also, our skin probably undergo changes with time too.
When I was young, I used NeoStrata and it worked wonders, but after I stopped and reused it years later, it was only so-so. In between, tried all sorts of different stuff. However, since using SKII ~9 months ago, I have stayed with it. Not crystal-clear but do see improvements....and I only use the 3 basic items (lazy lah, just want to do the most simple and basic stuff ie. wash, tone, moisturise). Actually b4 SKII, I was baffling \"2nd youth\" for months, imagine 40+yo woman suddenly start growing BIG pimples :slapshead: Now, SKII coupled with monthly facials :moneyflies: , the skin definitely no longer feel prickly and pimples gone. Face nicer but pocket lighter.... :scared: probably gotta make the facial package last longer and later stop it totally.....

Actually, used to buy those $2-$4 facial mask to DIY....but since SKII, I actually no longer do that.....
As for the honey thingy......looks interesting, think can try as personally I do believe in the benefits of honey.
