does anyone know why is this new school Frontier so popular?

      :?
So far, I have heard three reasons:

      1) Single session
      2) Hand picked teachers, Principal quite good
      3) Rather go to an untested school then to go to a tested average school - this is a good one πŸ™‚

        Hi,

Then how to make/change decision based on up to date stats? I saw one previous thread saying hb and wife stayed in two diff schools and kept each other updated ... Will the school post the latest info such as no. of registration ?

          RRMummy:
          engp9337:

I mean to ask whether technically it is allowed to do so. But what if ppl all wait till last min? then the statistics might not be reliable

          It is allowed.

All the last minute still need to take into consideration the logistics and time required to withdraw from previous school and subsequently register in the new school.

Statistics provided by MOE is updated past the closing time of that day so it would be accurate as of closing time. So sometimes it may appear that if you track back, there may be some change in the # for previous Phases or between the different days in the same Phase.

Most huge changes normally occur if the responsible school calls up to parents to deregister and try else where since they confirm no chance in balloting and would end up wasting their Phase 2C chance.

Hi u can tru jwps as it is not full and near to u .

            kabalevsky:
wow, i missed coming in and there are so many posts already! thanks for all the updates!

yes, it was very unexpected for me that Frontier has so many registrations. i had thought it was really safe and that there definitely won't be any balloting.

right now, Dh is thinking we'd still go for it but we'll monitor the breakdown tonight first. we need to know how many are within 1km. as far as possible, we'll try to avoid a ballot.

after reading all the posts, i feel that besides the other schools cutting classes to prepare for single session, it must also be that there are many young families in this particular region.

for example, for us, the nearest school is JWPS but it is always so full too. we don't have a choice, do we? now that the new school is even nearer than JWPS, of course we'll go for it, even though it is new and without track record. distance is impt for many factors... that would be another discussion..

sigh, if the breakdown shows a high number within 1km, then that means there is a great demand here, so hopefully with Frontier and the other new school at St71, the future situation would be better.

JWPS has 42 seats left. FPS will have 36 applicants withdrawing tomorrow and maybe ending up in JWPS. JWPS is likely to ballot too.

Why jwps has seats left still need to go thru balloting? I am lost I think . Are the registration for p2c done?

Not ended yet and tomorrow is the last day. As at end of day 2, JWPS has 42 seats left but 36 who stay > 1 km of FPS will withdraw from FPS and may end up in JWPS. FPS is confirmed balloting at within 1 km.

                      hi engp9337,
JWPS out for me. A plan B for me should be a safe one. Should not subject me to more balloting. So I'll go for Frontier, ballot, if fail then plan B kicks in for Phase2cs, which is CPS.

Till now, I still don't know much about JWPS. Not much sharing here on the forum and none that I know study there. Not even my immediate neighbors... so I rather go for schools I know more about. πŸ™‚
