Thank you for this thread.. my dd will sit for PSLE next year ... btw anyone have tried the approved chinese e-dictionary ? Which is better, Besta or Hans and if Hans- which model ? Anywhere to get it cheaper other than online? Appreciate advice...

I bought the one by Creative for my ds last year. This is the only one he has, so don't know which is better.

Hi all, I am new to this forum. My DS is P5 in DLS. So many CCA, camps and endless homework. Sometimes he stays up late just to finish his many homework…

One suggestion which works for us (erm…to my DS) is to retype all the questions which your child made mistakes in the CA, SA exams and let him/her redo them every day. We have seen vast improvement since started in SA1 last year when he was P4. Sometimes, past year school papers from elite schools may not help as much as to understand why your child is not understanding a particular concept. You can pick that up when you see him/her making same mistake.

Elite schools papers can be done after you see improvement or in parallel (if your child has the time). Also, do the same for all papers: not just Maths, English (synthesis transformation), Chinese compre (HCL) and Science papers.

        Try it!

My DS will be in P6 next year. This year his grades in school has slided quite a fair bit. Can’t imagine the school actually telling parents that it is normal to drop 10-20 marks! Very worrying indeed…makes us feel that by next year, my DS will fail his PSLE and never move onto a sec school.

Oh yes, I read that book too. My boy find the book amusing 😆 maybe he finds some similarity between him and the boy. 🤷
Same here, my DS1 is so busy with his school work that we also find it difficult to do revision. We have came to an agreement to start PSLE preparation this year end holidays.
Can share the name of the book?

PSLE Survival Guide for the Family by Ng Pan Wei. I just borrowed a copy from National Library but yet to read it though.

                        James Ang:

Who in P6 this year can solve this 2009 PSLE Maths (5 marks) question? (*Page 72, Q16 in the new PSLE Maths 5 year series.)

Jim bought some chocolates and gave half of it to Ken. Ken bought some sweets and gave half of it to Jim. Jim ate 12 sweets and Ken ate 18 chocolates. The ratio of Jim's sweets to chocolates became 1 : 7 and the ratio of Ken's sweets to chocolates became 1:4. How many sweets did Ken buy?. (PSLE 2009, 5 marks)

The model methoid is a pain. just use ratio and basic algebra and there u hv it. I was in P6 last year and i solved that question in 4 minutes munching on popcorn. Most of my friends cud do it too. dun understand the fuss over the question

What is the answer for this qn? Tia
May I know the answer? Is it 60?
