All About Right Brain Training
-
Hi swpf,
I read to her constantly from birth to 3.5yo until she was able to read her own, of course now I still read to her books that need detailed explanation. Everyday I try to play TT CDs, do mental Maths, flash cards, let her read her own favorite story books…, as she is learning music, so that has become one of the main activity nowadays.
Besides, it all depends how old your child is, if the child is less than 3, I think flash cards and constant reading are sufficient, if the child is more than 3, than other activities would set in such as reciting, writing…etc, a combination of left brain and right brain activity. But I wasn’t quite concern of handwritten stuff such as spelling, writing, for I noticed if the child is well prepared with all the skill training such as photographic memory, speed read, then all other left brain activity such as spelling, dictation, would turn real easy, imagine DD can recite adult poems of 150 with few readings.
If your child is still very young, then my advice is to read as many/different books as possible, never intentionally try to teach child to recognize just words for sake of wishing the child to read as young as 1/2 yo, because we as adult can read fast, slow, variety, different kind of books, from books that are fun to boring, more important we don’t dumb down…, so the child would try to absorb what were read to them. -

Hi seekingangels,Hi All,
I am new to the website. See some posting on Schichida and My Little Genius. I am checking out both programmes and some others. Will welcome any more feedback on these programmes. Thanks!
Have you decided on a program for your child yet? I am also looking for one now for my ds3.
Back when I was looking for a right-brain program for ds1, there were only Glenn Doman (must self-teach) and The Shichida Method to choose from. Now, there are so many right-brain centres, I am at a lost. I was quite fixed on Happy Train @ Bugis (thought this is the only other right-brain centre other than The Shichida Method) until I read about My Little Genius.
Are there others? Hope you can share your views/findings of the various centres.
TIA! -
Hi,
I’m new here too!
Anyone heard of smile enrichment? I was approached by them while shopping at marine parade. Heard that they’re doing right brain and giving free trial now… Considering to go… Anybody attended before? -
I came to this forum and did some research when my DD was about 6 months old. I also went to little genius for preview and shichida too. I also feel shichida staff are very arrogant. They don’t seem interested in having you at all. Perhaps they know they have long Q waiting. Little genius was very friendly but I was not impressed with the curriculum. In the end I put my child at Little Neuro Tree at Jurong East. Now they have changed their name. They do linking memory, flash cards and singing songs. My DD enjoyed it and we have just started the 3rd term. So we still unsure of the results.
With so much good claims about shichida, I am now thinking if I should put my DD there again. I mean if they are good and improve my DD, I should not allow their bad attitude to stop me.
We only show her you tube flash card at home. Seldom do actual flashing with her. I try to read to her every night but she always come snatch the book when I am half way through as she likes to play with books herself. Now I read to her when she drinking her night snack. Only time she can stay still.
She is now about 19 months old. -
hi EASON MAGPIES, how is the lesson at LNT?

What name did the LNT at JE changed to? I understand Happy Train was previously LNT as well.
Many parents are boycotting Shichida because of their bad customer service but really, how often do we have to face the front desk? To me, what is most important is the teacher and effectiveness of the program.
My ds1 was with SM for 5 terms and we did not have any issue except of course, the high turnover rate of their sinsei. I heard this is still the case.
SM would still be my choice for ds3 if they have a branch nearer to my place. -
agree with notabox… DD has been with shichida for 3 years… same sinsei (never change) we only switch class to different timing after DS came along… and no problem with the admi staff all very friendly… EXECPT some sinsei are super stuck up face… meet in toilet also never greet or smile…
it’s the method tt’s important, if u find the sinsei not good, change, there are many teachers there. i heard more positive feedback for sinsei in SP though. just to share. -

hi EASON MAGPIES, how is the lesson at LNT?
Hi I cannot really compare as we have not attended any other places. I went to the preview of the other school at the shopping centre near little india MRT. Cannot recall the name, I think is IGenius but I found the current activities at LNT better.
Before the change of name, lessons were conducted in 3 lang including Japanese. Now only 2 lang, english and chinese which we prefer.
The activities before and after name change basically the same. For this age group, they do flash card, memory game, singing songs and now lessons are also 10 minutes longer.
I feel the admin staff and teachers are all very friendly and nice to my DD and also because of location so we chose this place. -

Sorry cannot really remember the new name but staff and teachers still the same - only slight change in syllabus as I mentioned above. -
Dear Friends
wonder if you have heard of this kind of right brain training, I was invited to go to this talk in JB, and they claimed that a child can actually be blindfolded and asked to read/see cards, flashcards, play colour block games, play catching, ride bicycle, etc all these while being blindfolded, and my cousin’s daughter actually went for it, heard that they do have this course in s’pore and it costs 5k for a period of 10 hours which will last 1 day, in JB its 680Rm and its also 10 hours one day.
it’s supposed to ‘open’ up the right brain. I actually took a video of my cousin’s daughter in action.
the kids supposed to go on saturady and there’s also a lesson for parents on sunday which is supposed to teach you how to handle yr child’s new ability. its for kids between 4-11, my child not of age yet
reason why I’m not really convinced abt it is because I’m not sure how it would really help my child and would it harm my child? pls advise, I can upload my video or direct you to their website
