Hi everyone!
I was unable to attend the P’s talk for parents of JH1 on 14/7.
Anyone out there care to share what was discussed during the talk? -
Hi Celsesweety,
There will be one more round of briefing for the parents regarding the boarding programme. Boarding will be from Term 4 beginning to Oct last week. The estimated last day of the school is Nov 12. The mean GPA for term 2 is 3.69. -

From what I read here, the ratio of boy : girl was 1:4 for 2010 cohort and 2:9 for 2011. Seems to be an increasing trend.
How do the boys feel being the minority in NJC ?
My boy is currently in awaiting his HAST test result for DSA. -
My son don’t seem to be bothered by this so far. His class only has 5 boys. I always wonder why NJC appeal more to girls? Is HCI really that big of an attraction for top PSLE boys?
My son did not chose HCI because the color of the school look dull and boring to him. NJC appears to be more lively. That’s was his criteria back then. -
But HCI has a longer history as a high school. Moreover, the A level result is still a big gap ahead of NJC.

I do not think it is a matter of NJC appealing more to girls, but rather more of a matter of preferred choice due to circumstances. Let's take year 2011 as an example. My son don't seem to be bothered by this so far. His class only has 5 boys. I always wonder why NJC appeal more to girls? Is HCI really that big of an attraction for top PSLE boys?

For girls, the 2 girls' IP school RGS and NYGH all have COP>260. If girls get results between 257 - 260, they can only look for other co-ed IP schools. For some other races, DHS and RVHS which are SAP Chinese schools are not within their choice, so NJC is the next preferred choice.
For boys, RI COP is 259 and HCI is 257. If a boy gets 257, he will choose to go HCI instead of NJC, unless it is a case whereby they do not want to get in a Chinese school. Then again, there is another boy's school ACSI as well.
Based on this, and the fact that girls then to score better at PSLE, there seems to be a trend of imbalance in NJC. Nonetheless, I think NJC is a good IP school and worth considering for both boys and girls. -

Ya, many pple look at academic results when deciding to go to which sch.
I am still thinking if I should write a complaint letter to HCI abt the way the students hoard the front of the public bus & refused to move into the rear to make more space for boarding passengers  Those from NYGH and MGS as well.
