Old Primary School merged or disappeared?

Does anyone know what happens if your old primary school has already been merged or closed down? So the parent does not have any alumni school for the kiddo to go to? :shock:


Let's say my hubby's school A was merged with school B and renamed as school C etc etc since he left the school...is he considered as alumni of school C even though the school's name was A when he was there?

Seraya Pri merged with Fowlie Pri = Fowlie Pri
Fowlie Pri merged with Mountbatten Pri and Haig Boy's Pri = Tanjong Katong Primary...


So hubby is from Seraya...considered TKPS's alumni? :roll:

I was from Guillemard East Primary, which has since disappeared. Anyone knows which school I'm considered alumni of (if any) or should I just consider myself suay that I don't belong to any :?

sadly it all depends on the school so you have to either call up the school or MOE with the school name to check. My hubby’s school was considered closed so no such luck.

I have been thinking...what are the reasons these schools merged or closedown? Is it because of the low take up rate? In such case, why would we want to bother finding out whether it is part of any merger if the merger proves its unpopularity (unless of course after the merger, it gain popularity..then we may want to tap into that...:P)? Wouldn't it be wiser or better to just choose another school around where we stay?

I have written to the school and MOE (who also forwarded my email to the school :roll: )...so we will see...

Serangoon Garden North School merged with Serangoon Garden South School to become the latter.
