Happy Mama, how's the Bengawan Solo's mooncake? Nice?
Hi BlurBee, I find the taste ok. You may want to go try it since samples are available...
Difficult to compare when you're only trying one brand... I find mooncake sampling very fun when there are more brands and varieties to try... We'll be spoilt for choice!

DesertWind:
Hi desertwind, I didn't know some mooncakes contain pork lard. Wow this certainly makes BS mooncakes a healthier choice!
I like what I saw printed on each mooncake wrapper:
1. Freshly baked
2. Made in Singapore
3. No pork lard!
I think this year I will buy BS for my parents and in-laws!
By the way, just curious, do you know which brands contain pork lard? -

Happy Mama:
Sampled Bengawan Solo's mooncakes over the weekend. Surprised that they have a less sweet version of white lotus paste. Can't wait for my favorite brand to start selling.
What's your favorite brand? -
I like Peach Garden white lotus paste with egg yolks onesβ¦yummy!

my family likes Pine Garden red bean paste mooncakes :rahrah:

Hi Happy Mama,
I think most traditional mooncakes contain pork lard. Need it to make moon-cake that's what I understand! But I dunnoo much about making mooncakes though (only know how to eat! ). Anybody here can throw some light?

Errr....no lah, not me alone of course! :rotflmao:
Though I wish I could eat my mooncakes in peace without DS keep coming and saying \"Want!\". Also I bought different types of mooncakes in one box to cater to my hubby's taste as well so effectively 4 of us (plus maid since no pork lard can eat!) finish off one box over 2 days. Not difficult since it is not too sweet!
ke...ke...ke!

Hi northernstar,
Oh, Pine Garden sell mooncakes too?
Recently I am crazy over Pince Garden's cakes!
Went to buy and sample most of their most popular cakes already!
Will consider their mooncakes then.
