N if you decided that even the younger ones do not watch tv, den wat are they suppose to do.

I think of 'projects' for my younger ones to work on if i'm doing something with DS1, so that everyone is doing something at the same time. Very simple things for the 4yo, like cutting shapes out and pasting them on file folders (sturdier than notebooks); folding paper boats/planes/animals etc; writing some letters/numbers; or drawing/colouring.

DS1 works mostly independently though, so I get him to schedule some independent work first (homework, learning spelling/tingxie, music etc) so I can sit with DS2 to plan what to do and grab materials. Usually my DD (K2) will do some work on her own too, like learning spelling/tingxie and music theory. By the time they are done with their independent work, DS2 would have decided on his project and can get started. Then I can help either DS1 or DD with work that needs my involvement. Usually I will work with one and ask the other to either work on a 'project' or read a book, until his/her turn. Sometimes they help DS2 with his 'work' or read to him if he's done.

When I'm busy with housework and they have completed their work, I get them to play together instead of watching tv, cos they just can't stop watching if given a chance! I come up with very time consuming activities so I can do housework in peace 😄. Like staging a play/concert for daddy. Once I got them to rearrange all their books whch took hours... 🕺

For me, I only watch Korean drama. I am a fan of Korean drama, same for my dd1 who loves k-pop and she is also a tv addict..

As my dd1 will be going to P1 next yr, I will refrain her from watching tv around 8-9.30pm in order for her to finish her homework or revision on her spelling fr her enrichment classes. Prior to bedtime, I will only allow her to watch cartoon network for half an hour.

I like Korean drama too. And US drama. And Taiwan 偶像剧. 😓

Just spent the entire afternoon watching 5 episodes of Fringe season 3 while kids in school & cca. Now they are reading in their room while I continue watching after dinner.

Used to be a fan of Taiwan idol drama but now prefer Korean drama. I can only watch Korean drama when my dd2 is asleep. I hv subscribe SCV and they r given one channel \"one\" which r playing mainly Korean drama n entertainment as foc.

When my dd1 back fr ccc, I will watch with her \"dong yi\" which is also her favorite drama. I will accompany her to do her homework n revision daily for 1 1/2 HR while taking care of my dd2.

Thankfully my kids are big fat bookworms, unlike their mama. I feel sleepy (my nick!) whenever I read.

i can only watch in the morning cos' in the pm, i am a very busy driver.

dd is very 自动, will manage her own schedule. ds still young, needs some pushing and pulling. luckily for ds and i, not much homework this year for primary 1 and i am sticking to 1 assessment book per subject per year.

i mean like gg thru with him slowly the type of topic/activities involved so that he will know what to expect..

so err... izit 1 book for each subject? donch wanna scare him off with too many books... cos i already told him P1 will hv 3 main subject topics... english, mandarin & maths.. plus... i donch know, what else.. :scratchhead:

for maths... getting the Olympiad Maths Trainer 1 as recommended..
                hw abt english & chinese??
You may see a grammar guide listed in your P1 booklist, so perhaps see if you can find out which one first. Otherwise, if you happen to purchase the same one, you may have to erase all the answers for him to bring to school 😆

For maths, in addition to introducing him to the concepts, you can also revise with him writing numbers in words instead of numerals, especially tricky spellings like Forty. Also shapes: triangle, square, circle etc. And ordinal numbers: first, second, third and so on.
What else... OH, reading and understanding the questions/ instructions. So when you're doing your worksheets, get him to read the instructions himself to develop his understanding, rather than telling him what to do.

Also, help him to learn good habits such as (1) checking his work, (2) being careful!
If he establishes these early, it will save you a lot of nagging later 😄.

It's ironic that I can watch TV now but yet not interested in it. However, I was crazy over 2 Taiwanese dramas earlier because of Ethan Ruan and Jerry Yan.

Which 2 drama? Is it 败犬女王 & 就想赖着你?

                    就想赖着你 definitely http://i54.tinypic.com/33ubsx1.jpg\">
Not 败犬女王 but the earlier one...forgot the title of show.

                        Hi Mummies,

I realized the Chinese assessment books which I bought for my P1 gal is not of much help…don’t know if it is the syllabus in her school which doesn’t quite follow or vice versa. Really frustrating.
Other than the 习字本 which I use to coach her for ting xie, the others are not of much help at all. Will need to check with her teacher regarding this…for her P2 CL assessment, I will definitely be spending more time standing at Popular to comb through the sections inside.
