      Blurmom:
mine din get in too haiz... which one you going for ? both not convenient got to take 2 buses from our hse, so school bus is a must.

haiz headache, nx yr expenses go higher.
prob reg at juying first and then go jurong west to put on waitlist.... but to transfer after school term starts could be disruptive right? xingnan only left 24 vacancies, and i am beyond 1 km already, chances must be very slim.

        Hi Everyone....

Im new here and im a mummy of 2 gals age 6 and 3, i juz finnish attending the 2nd time balloting (Phase 2C Supplementary) for Pri 1 registration to pri 1 next year 2010. I stay in Jurong West St 61 as for Phase 2C for the first time i i went to Jurong West Pr, nearest to my house less than 1km, but balloting is required and im not sucessed. For Phace 2C supplementary i choose Xingnan Pr, to my dissapointment again aft today result, she is not selected in the school 😞

I was left with 3 choices of school, Juying Pr, Corporation Pr and Boon Lay Garden Pr. So i have no choice and since my mum stay near boonlay i choose Boonlay Garden as my first choice followed by Juying and Corporation.

So my question here why BoonLay Garden School is not that popular compare to other school? Any reason that you know that i dont know? I still have till tomorrow n cannot really decide.....still a lil lost :?

        Thanks Alot!
        My question

Oh your luck is really bad …

Popularity is purely relative. While Boon Lay has not win many awards, its 2008 PSLE results is ok.

          No. of Candidates 314
          Passing Rate 96.8%
No. of Candidates eligible for Express Stream 45.2%
          No. of Candidates with T-Score > 250 10
Passing Rate for Merged Stream 100%
Passing Rate for EM3 Stream 87.3%
Top student for merged stream scored 270.

And since it is near your mother’s place, it would easier too.

Only disadvantage over the other 2 schools that I can find is that it is double session.

Good Luck in your selection and registration !

            Hi

I am also a mummy of 2 gals, 6 and 3. My elder one will also be going to P1 next yr.

My sister used to teach in BLGP for several yrs (only this yr tsfr to Zhangde).

She told me they actually have very good teachers in the sch. All very committed and cooperative. But like many other schools, they are very bogged down by handling many ECAs in addition to teaching. Anyway, she advised the best is to try and get into the best class as the teachers are all very good.

Reason why the school is not so popular is because (hope I don’t offend anyone here) there are many 1-room flats in Boon Lay. Kids staying there usually will go to BLGP because of proximity. However, most of them come from broken family or family with both parents slogging to earn a living. Such, many kids are left on their own after school. Naturally, the kids will not be disciplined to study hard and most do not do well in PSLE.

We all know parents play an important role in a child’s study. So as ong as you monitor and support your gal along the way, I am sure your gal will do fine. The centre manager of MPM Maths in Pioneer Mall has 2 gals, all graduated top from BLGP with very good PSLE results and now stuying in SAP sec sch. She has good comments about the school. So not to be too worried.

                  Hi

I know how you feel. I wasn’t selected as Rulang PV last yr. Felt so so down like I didn’t try hard enuf for my gal. I was staying in Taman Jurong and hardly any good sch nearby. So I shifted my place to Gek Poh, so that I could try my luck to squeeze into West Grove. I managed to get in under 2C thru balloting. If I didn’t, I would try Juying. Quite a no. of good comments abt this school in this forum.

Perhaps you wanna consider JY. It is a little out of the way but it’s a single session. Cooperation Pri is, to me, similar to BLGP in terms of standard. Don’t know abt the envt and teachers tho.

                  Good luck.

I am also a mummy of 2 gals, 6 and 3. My elder one got in Juying. I am a working mum and my mum, who also stays in st 61 takes care of the 2 girls. For Juying, I can send my girl to school in the am since it is single session, and my mum can take bus 241 to fetch her (after fetching my younger one from nursery). The other alternative would be school bus.

Heartbreaker, are you a working mum too? If your mum is taking care of the girls, then BLGP could be a better choice. If not, Juying is quite accessible too - bus 241. If it is Corporation, then bus 185. If not, then school bus.

I thought Phase 3 is next Friday?
