If ministry of education endorse NTU's excuses and not taking any action I will tell my kid to F his teachers if he is also in one of those moments. To think that those idiotic animals are there @ NTU to teach our next generation. Anyway Ting Pay ling can step aside this F girl is sure to stand for election in Geylang one day.

Maybe it is how all young people talk… maybe that is how they bond? I notice that many of the youngsters who take part in this forum behave in a manner that is less elegant than desired, but maybe that is part of youth culture… and us oldies are not used to it.

There’s a lot more causes of concerns in our society to deal with than a slip of word and that it does not make common sense to make sweeping statements because of 1 person and 1 speech.

I think it was inappropriate and she did herself a disservice. But, I’m neither shocked nor scandalised. She’s an adult, not a six year old, so she (and not her parents, nor her school, nor MOE) should be responsible for her words and actions.


On Chenonceau’s point about youth culture, I have to say that’s how some younger groups of people talk. I’ve seen and heard such language among some of my younger friends and colleagues, even among the younger women (mid 20s). For them, it’s no big deal. But they do know when NOT to use it, e.g. when meeting bosses, clients, older (read Aunty and Uncle-type) people, in front of kids.

I’m not saying I think it’s OK for me or my kids to speak that way (and my kids know thay cannot speak that way) but do I think that this girl and those who utter such words are somehow immoral, bad people? Nope. Let her learn her lesson about the appropriateness of such language, and move on.
