And that also mean that those whose kids are not yet in school may have planned for holidays over the long weekend and now departure have to be adjusted.

On the topic of school holidays, 1 September will be half day for most schools, I believe. Then 2nd September (Friday) is a school holiday for Teacher's Day.... :imcool:

            According to the article...

\"SINGAPOREANS will elect their next President on Aug 27, a Saturday.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong issued the writ of election this afternoon and named Aug 17 as Nomination Day. This means that there will be the minimum nine days of campaigning, plus a Cooling-Off Day.\"

            MINIMUM nine days of campaigning...

Erm... why are they so afraid to give people more days to campaign?

How am I suppose to get to know the candidates in just 9 days? :siao:

Aug 29 is not a school holiday, but off in lieu for President Election (Aug 27). 30th will a public holiday being Hari Raya Puasa...so it will be a long weekend to play and also REVISE for SA2

Nah...I don't think 1 Sep will be half day because 2nd Sep is already a school holiday.

Dr Tony Tan’s son is NOT a licensed doctor

Scroobal, Sammyboy forum’s resident PAP insider, has been leading an interesting discussion thread on Dr Patrick Tan. This discussion thread [ http://www.sammyboy.com/showthread.php?97759-Tony-Tan-amp-Son-lose-the-plot-or-jus-tplain-dishonest ]
has been very interesting to follow as it points out a lots of interesting anomalies.

One of the most interesting anomalies is that Dr Patrick Tan is NOT a licensed doctor in Singapore. Information about this surfaced when people looking through his CV [link] noticed that he did not serve the mandatory 1 year residency/housemanship needed to become a doctor.

A check with the SMC registry of doctors licensed to practice medicine in Singapore [link] revealed that there is no Dr Patrick Tan Boon Ooi listed.

Further discussion revealed that up till 2003, the medical qualifications from Stanford were not recognized in Singapore [link].

Based on his resume, Dr Patrick Tan returned to serve his NS from 2000 to 2002. As he did not complete his OCS, he held the rank of 3rd Sergeant.

Putting it together, in 2000 Dr Patrick Tan was a 3rd Sergeant with an unrecognized medical qualification and who was not licensed to practice medicine in Singapore. In spite of this, he was posted to DMERI where he was given the title of “Senior Research Fellow” to lead a sensitive medical military research project. This begs the obvious question:

Is it normal for SAF to assign a 3rd Sergeant who is not licensed as a doctor and who has unrecognized medical qualifications to lead a sensitive medical military research project?

                      .

Maybe Dr Patrick Tan is a PhD holder, hence the title Dr? and why did he study for a medical degree that was not recognised in Spore?
