Should parents only do PV in schools that are less than 2km from house?

Looking at the trend this year, I would say <1km would be a safer bet. But there is also that option if one applies for PV in a school > 2km and then upon confirming that PV application is approved, proceed to buy a home <1km from the school. This is again no guarantee but at least provides a chance for balloting. It is a tough call... šŸ˜“

Why do you ask? As RRMummy said seeing the current trend its more worthwhile to do a PV if you are <1KM

Oic... Just move away from a good school.

Thought can go do PV to get in, since now got time... But then if more than 2km, do PV also no use, then no need to do pv. 🤷

Current place I stay, schools not much ranking... so no need do pv. šŸ˜‚

This was what verykiasu2010 said when I asked about it in NYPS thread.

Will update if more parents confirm it.
              verykiasu2010:

From what I know, the 80 hours can be fulfilled in one or two years, because the PV can start earlier - it can be earlier than the 12 months before Pri 1 registration.....I know someone started doing PV when the child is only 3 years young

              VooVoo:
Not for traffic warden duties...1 year came up to 80hours. But I know there are possibly a handful of PVs who were accepted by the school to start earlier than the \"official\" batch...and therefore had more than 1 year to clock up the hours...
So I guess it's best to call the school early to check when is the earliest/latest someone can apply to be PV.

If the school is good then in that case according to the current trend they might(most probably) will have balloting for 2B for <1 or 1-2kM.. then in that case you might loose... if you give the exact school name i can help check!!
Else if you dont mind you can go to the school near ur current place atleast its nearer!

St Hilda,Temasek Primary and Tao Nan? All more than 2km...do you think do pv is any good to get in a place? no money to move house...

šŸ˜“ your choices are quite far apart from each other.

you can strike Tao Nan & St Hilda off your list.

Temasek will be a gamble if you go PV route, lucky thing is not much new high density development in the neighbourhood.

why strike Tao Nan & St Hilda off ? very hard to get in?

For Temasek you can try! but still difficult

                      Temasek's ranking:

Can 2.4km round down to 2km?
