All about Transferring to Other Primary Schools

Hi,
I read and heard about successful transfers. Are there many movements between schools or that the schools simply absorb the extras? -

There has to be vacancies in the school before it will accept a transfer. The school may make exceptions if the child is exceptionally gifted academically or in sports. The best time to make a transfer is at the end of P3 when students enter GEP and about 300-500 spaces become available.Hi,

Hi,
In oday ballotting, we couldnt make it
(very disappointed).
If we want to transfer to this particular school, would it possible before P3? What is the procedure?
Thanks -

approach the school direct now to express your interest to be put on waiting list for transfer. they may ask you to fill in a form. then check with them if you need to go back every year to submit a fresh form. do bear in mind that it is up to the school's discretion on who to award the vacancies as some may be on first come first serve basis, some schools look at results/special skills of kids and some schools give their pv parents (who was unsuccessful in phase 2b) priority in the waiting list. -
Thanks jedamum.
As we know all the seats are taken at this point and there is no exam result to show them( school) before P3…Dont know what to do (confused).
Do you have any idea after Chonfu, Northland and Jiemin which is the relatively better school inYishun? -

i think you can start to call up the school to be put on waiting list for transfer first and see what they say. i recall reading somewhere that that is what parents who failed in balloting do. some parents do get called up towards end of the year if the school somehow has vacancies (eg last min withdrawal/transfer out by other students). but i think waitlist will be quite long (i am on a waitlist myself for 2 yrs with one school; even if now they have vacancies, not sure if i gonna do a transfer already cos kid said no
).
with schools doing away with exams in lower primary, it may be difficult to get transfer based on academic results. so gonna hope that the school go on first come first serve waiting list approach.
good luck. -

As the popular schools are already taken, the remaining pri schools left are relatively comparable. It would be good to choose the nearest available school. Fret not, it may be a blessing in disguise going to a less stressful sch. Thanks jedamum.

Anybody is putting your child’s name in another school’s waiting list?
Anybody has succeed before? Please share your experience. -
My friend was very lucky… She got a call from the school just couple of days before the school started… She had to withdraw from the other school and buy new set of books and uniforms… She was really glad she had put her name in the wait list (1st on the waitlist)immediately after she failed to get a place during the balloting… Her hubby had even commented then that she wAs so kiasu. But I guess she had the last laugh and the the best laugh!
