      Thanks, KiasuGrandMaster IV...

Will now consider 2 other schools in the area but they wouldn't be within walking distance.

I'm trying to overcome my disappointment & anger (anger maybe not!), & would be as normal when fetching my child later in the evening.

Ultimately, I wouldn't want to show her my disappointment, and start her on a wrong footing by giving her impression that she would be going into a 2nd choice, inferior school...
Definitely will feel disappointment in unsuccessful ballot, but glad to know that you are practical and that you have plan B in-place that you will carry out.

All the best for your next step. I am sure your gal will do well in whichever school with strong parents like you supporting her. As you progress thru' the primary school levels, you will find that it really doesn't matter that much whichever school your kids attend, as long as your kids acquire the right learning attitude and you as parents are there to provide the guidance and support. This is my personal experience and opinion.

hello... me too.... UNSUCCESSFUL... in balloting at Jiemin... 😢 :frustrated: :stompfeet:   :nunchuk:

So sorry for you, poppy15 :snuggles:

Yes, it is not all lost when you do not get the 1st choice. There are many many living examples. Take some time to let yourself vent the frustration / anger/ disappointment. Then brace yourself for the next Phase.

Indeed, any over-subsription will still end up in a ballot for Phase 2Csupp. IMHO, you might want to weigh your options carefully and choose to register in a school that will not put you in a balloting situation again.

        Good luck poppy15! :xedfingers:

@RRMummy: thanks. I know I am not alone. Just need to move on now and hope that our 2nd choice is worth our try and that we succeed next week! It's just the beginning of a long journey...so stress level will go up starting next year!

          HI kidznme,

Give yourself a little time to take it in then forge ahead. It is great that you already have your backup plan. As you say, reassess your plan B and Plan C. IMHO, try to avoid a balloting situation in the next Phase.

You are right. The registration is but only the first tiny step into the new chapter of our child's life. It is a marathon ahead. It is all the preparation and the continuous support in the long journey that is worth all our energy.

          :celebrate:

i did mention that maybe a few pages before you. it's the first time i see MOE putting up such a message. :yikes: they sure are monitoring the sentiments on the ground.

Wonder if there will be anything with regard to this in the coming rally speech on 14 Aug.

:lightrod: :faint: I was not successful in the ballot too. Waited extra 45 mins because there was an error in the ballot slips and they actually call out almost 300 names from the ballot box to return each slip in order to fish out the wrong ballot slip. Thereafter everyone drop their slips into the ballot box again to start the balloting process. What the....

                      Hope my backup plan works.

my back up sch is sch ggg... ideal?

poppy15, at this point I can't really tell if ggg is ideal.

As we are only talking general terms, can only see that eee, aaa, ddd have a higher chance of balloting while bbb and ddd dound to have excess.

                        Some questions in mind are:
                        - Does ggg have a history of balloting at Phase 2Csupp?
If yes, then balloting will surely happen this year.

                        - Next question, balloting at what distance?
If you are less than this distance, then your risk is lower and you might get away without a balloting

                        - Does ggg have a history of balance after Phase 2Csupp?
If yes, your chances are again higher, especially if you stay within 1km

                        etc etc..

Roughly, this is what I would do:
                        1. Use past years #s as a RELATIVE comparison against the # for this year..
                        2. Evaluate the distance if balloting was a history.
                        3. Look at the number of over-subsription in your area. Gauge the distance and risk.
                        3. Determining your Plan B, Plan C and Plan D
                        4. Check the actual registration # and distance of applications on registration days.
                        5. Register in Plan B/C/D that has no balloting

Am I making sense to you?
