2011 P1 Registration Exercise for 2012 In-Take
-
RRMummy:
i roughly understand what u meanpoppy15, at this point I can't really tell if ggg is ideal.
As we are only talking general terms, can only see that eee, aaa, ddd have a higher chance of balloting while bbb and ddd dound to have excess.
Some questions in mind are:
- Does ggg have a history of balloting at Phase 2Csupp?
If yes, then balloting will surely happen this year.
- Next question, balloting at what distance?
If you are less than this distance, then your risk is lower and you might get away without a balloting
- Does ggg have a history of balance after Phase 2Csupp?
If yes, your chances are again higher, especially if you stay within 1km
etc etc..
Roughly, this is what I would do:
1. Use past years #s as a RELATIVE comparison against the # for this year..
2. Evaluate the distance if balloting was a history.
3. Look at the number of over-subsription in your area. Gauge the distance and risk.
3. Determining your Plan B, Plan C and Plan D
4. Check the actual registration # and distance of applications on registration days.
5. Register in Plan B/C/D that has no balloting
Am I making sense to you?
hmmm.... sch ggg has only 1 balloting history for P2C supp in yr 2008..
2010 - 52% APP
2009 - 45% APP
2008 - 118% APP
2007 - 27% APP
2006 - 28% APP
i'm defintely staying within 1km from this sch premise...
i'm js basing on the number of vacancies still available for P2C supp to gauge... :xedfingers:
the other option is sch FFF....also within 1km.. with 63 vacancies still available after P2C.
this sch has no balloting history for the past 5 years... all falling within the range of 67 - 83% APP -

I am also unsuccessful. Hope no need to go through balloting in phase 2c sup. Regretted going for balloting. Emotional roller coaster!

swpf:
swpf,i am very sad and disappointed. my dd didnt manage to get into my 1st choice :s
have to wait for phase 2c (s).
felt sorry for my dd. i wonder did i make a wrong choice for her......
my hb was more disappointed than me. he witnessed the balloting
So sorry to hear that. I hope you will brace up and strategise for next phase. Please do not think you have made a wrong choice - you have made what you think is the best choice given the option at that point in time. Whenever there is balloting, there is sure to be happy or sad outcome. Fate plays a part, and there is nothing you do wrong about it. What is more important is for you to evaluate the choices you have for P2C Supp and decide on your 1st and 2nd choice. You can use this to decide on your preference:
1. past ballot history of P2C supp
2. your chance based on distance
3. check up sch website to see their programme, achievements, CCA, etc.
All the best for your P2C Supp. -
RRMummy:
I hope not to go through balloting again. It was nerve wrecking and chest thumping! Was an emotional roller coaster. But I know for the fact that my 2nd choice is also a 2nd choice for many who didn't succeed in Phase 2C balloting. So I will have to fall back on 3rd choice if I see the former one is being over-subscribed.kidznme:
@RRMummy: thanks. I know I am not alone. Just need to move on now and hope that our 2nd choice is worth our try and that we succeed next week! It's just the beginning of a long journey...so stress level will go up starting next year!
HI kidznme,
Give yourself a little time to take it in then forge ahead. It is great that you already have your backup plan. As you say, reassess your plan B and Plan C. IMHO, try to avoid a balloting situation in the next Phase.
You are right. The registration is but only the first tiny step into the new chapter of our child's life. It is a marathon ahead. It is all the preparation and the continuous support in the long journey that is worth all our energy.
:celebrate:
I just hate to go through this period now and am sure many of the unsuccessful applicants are too. Why can't I enjoy a good weekend and the upcoming National Day holiday? Still have to torment myself one more round next week...Hiaz................... -

yap_susan,
So sorry to hear that. Maybe for P2C supp you can choose a school within 1km from your place with no past ballot history for P2C Supp. That may ensure you have higher chance without having to go thru balloting again. Have a backup plan B school at hand too (in case due to overwhelming response this year). Good luck! -

You're not alone. This year is a crazy year. So many schools including neighborhood schools are over-subscribed. Still don't comprehend...is it that we have too many PRs or have too many people moved closer to popular schools???? Hiaz...I'm just so disheartened to see my chance slipped away just like that...tried PV failed, tried balloting failed. Now just hinge on Phase 2CS outcome. Hopefully everyone gets into their 2nd choice school :xedfingers:
