      Happy Mama:
Local women are not being materialistic. They are just being practical, just like the saying goes, 爱情不能当面包吃. 😉

      :siam:
I think most local men also very practical. Prefer independent women who can help to \"sponsor\" a bit at home. 😉

        What to do?

Even we don't talk about branded items but the elderly sick is another big expenses even we choose the Government C Class.

Recently my mum need to inplant a Pacemaker and the medisave can only dedected $1500 and we had to pay cash of $2000++ to the hopsital immediately when she admitted.

          So very true.
I've seen ex-colleagues who marry wives a few years older. They told me they are more stable and have been working longer than them (with NS etc). Some marry women of higher status than them and even move in to stay with the wife's family. Wise guys huh? 😉

Hope your mum's op goes smoothly.
Yes, the govt made local women practical, not materialistic. It's not just the local women but PRC too !

Yes, healthcare cost is really high here.
There's this saying that we can die but cannot fall sick. 😉

LOCAL men shouldn't say women are materialistic. Some of these men want their wives to continue working to help them support the family so that they can still go for holidays, pay for mortgage on condo and change new cars.

                    Yup, for selfish reasons.
There's this lady I know who has worked her whole life but doesn't have any savings... and her pay is not low.... All her salary will be pooled together with her hubby's for a very luxurious lifestyle.

                      Hi Brenda,

Glad to hear your mum is discharged.
Yes, what Happy Mama said is true. Can die but cannot fall sick…it’s too expensive. Lying on hospital bed is very expensive. For eg my elderly aunt had to stay at St Luke for 1 month + after her surgery to recuperate. The other reason is because she stays alone and maid hasn’t arrived, so doctors refused to discharge her.

                        Hi happymum

Thank you and she is recovering well now.

This is consider the minmum/cheaper cost as she only require single chamber. There are people require double chamber then I think the upfront cash is going to exceed $2000++. .

I agree that beside the HDB and education fees, the healthcare cost is another BIG concern to the people here!

Can Die but cannot fall sick is very true.
