      Hi Everyone

I will be registering my DS next year for 2013 P1 intake. Having a headache all this while. My DD is in Kuo Chuan - P4 this year so DS is guaranteed a place in Kuo Chuan. Problem is my DD & DS will be in different sessions in 2013 although in the same school. In addition, Kuo Chuan will be in the holding school in AMK during 2013.

I’m actually considering Catholic High which is within 1km from my house but it’s the balloting chances that is very slim for the past few years that has caused some balding for me! In addition, there will be more than 1000 units of new families staying within 1km from CHS because of Clover condo & Natura Loft DBSS going TOP very soon. I strongly believe there are some percentage of families who bought these two properties because of close proximity to CHS. Of course if my DS can get into CHS, then both will be in am session and CHS is indeed a very good school in terms of academic & culture, not forgetting the IP & the affiliated secondary school.

Nevertheless I have not decided yet, if by the time comes, if I still have some hair, then I will apply Kuo Chuan BUT by then if already complete balding caused by CHS stress, then I will apply CHS since NOTHING MORE TO LOSE!!!

for me, worse come to worst, if P2A has to ballot <1 km, then i'll go for an all girls school nearest my house. After get in, then transfer to an affliated school, bypass PSLE headache.

for you, is Pei Chun or Marris Stellar <1k from yr house, laughingcat
You're an old girl of RGPS right? So I assume you will be registering your dd in RGPS. But from what you've written, it seems that you may transfer your dd to an affiliated school some time in the course of her primary school years?

if this new P2A ex-alumni abolishment kicks into effect one fine day due to sudden MOE announcement of changes affecting all P2A alumni parents - before July 2013 due registration takes place for P1 2014 intake, and if i fail to ballot an RGPS place for her under phase P2A, means in the end, she'll end up going to neighbourhood school, nearest my house vicinity.

if she end up going to 2nd choice school (no longer RGPS anymore), then Yes, i do need to consider seeking transfer. if possible, to an affliated safety net school.

hopefully if assume everything all safe and sound, everything status quo. ie. no MOE sudden announcement of changes before July 2013 registration, then she'll stay put in RGPS, all the way untill PSLE. No transfer whatsoever.

the trend has changed rapidly & significantly recently, nerve wrecking ..

based on this year's intake, so many neighbourhood schools already gone into balloting ... indeed scary!

the trend is so different from past years' trends observed. Really makes P2A parents worried and jittery from now onwards ... hence, i wld advise all P2A parents to consider back up plans now, in case suddenly MOE announce changes not in favor for P2A parents anymore. Don't just assume things remain the same forever. Changes are inevitable. It's only a question of when, which year start to change, and what kind of changes impacted to all P2A parents ...

For 2013, I think the saving grace is that the PV selection process has since closed, and in a way the admission machinery is already in progress for the 2013 intake. MOE could make certain changes around the fringes possibly on differentiating the local PR divide, or to increase class sizes or ramp up capacity, but any significant changes are unlikely. Actually what the parents need is certainty. There could be more stringent criteria set in limiting parents to serving PV for only ONE school per child, as well as limiting the number of PVs each school can accept such that all PVs get certainty of entry. There could also be tightening in terms of limiting parents to only one school registration per child, to prevent people from gaming the system (eg register my kid in peichun under phase 2a, then deregister from peichun later when chances are good under phase 2c for nanyang primary). That takes up unnecessary space in earlier phases. Such tightening ard the fringes are palatable. For cosmic changes, I don’t think are likely especially for 2013 intake, unless they do not adversely impact Singaporeans. My two cents.

                hello parents!

One more year to go. To those like me doing PV, enjoy your time there and take it as community work in case there's balloting and you don't get it. To those going for the other phases, all the best! As for me and my household, we will be doing something like this...

Yep it is true. Refer to the link http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/primary-one-registration/balloting/ on schools that need to ballot for phase 2C.

Do your research wisely yeah and come out with alternative plans.

Between the 2, ACJS generally have more vacancy than ACPS after phase 2A. Reason being there are more old boys at ACPS. Also ACJS can take in more Pri 1 because of its larger premises.

Normally you will see parents jumping from ACS to SJIJ or vice versa
