Met parents who are volunteers at KH and didn’t managed to get in to the school during Phase 2B. I feel for them. Now… i understand that parent volunteers go in with their eyes wide open knowing that at the end of the day there is no guarantee of a place. Fair.

However i also feel that the school has a responsibility to cap the number of parent volunteers that they take in each year. Some schools have 40+ places for Phase 2B and their volunteer numbers are almost double that number!!!

Now you may say that the school cannot tell exactly how many places there will be at different phases from year to year - i totally disagree with that! Even Kiasuparents.com can come up with highly accurate statistics annually. Schools will roughly know the numbers - and taking in so many PVs over what is historically limited spaces just tells me that the school don’t care about the welfare of their VOLUNTEERS and just treat them as free hands and legs. In short they don’t have a sound volunteer management system.

        MOE should really address this.

Totally agree. At 2B, parent volunteers are also fighting with grassroot leaders and Hokkien HK members. They should take these numbers into consideration too. No longer a guaranteed place at 2B.

some of the girls from here after P6 PSLE go CHIJ St Nicholas, one of excellent Top SAP Secondary schools in SG.

                      Dear Phthp,

Do you know how many PV did KH accepted this year for next year registration? And for phase 2b within 1km, this seems to the first year that needs balloting for <1Km… what is your thoughts for next year ?
I am getting paranoid and needs to plan for plan B in case cant get into KH , which is better ? GMS or TKPS ?

                      Cheers

I have the same situation as you in this year's primary one registration for my boy. We have to decide between GMP or TKP. My hubby and I actually went in to the schools to have a \"feel\" of the place. We also spoke to friends and relatives who have kids currently studying in these schools. Our conclusion is, GMP seems to be more suitable for my boy. We stay within 2 km from GMP and we decided to go for balloting at GMP. Luckily, we managed to get my son in. Just to share with you what I have gone through. 😄
