      Hiya kiddo!
We need to teach our children what we learn now, not what we learnt yesteryear... it is no longer relevant.
We need to teach them how to cope with a world we do not know how it will exist... a world that only history can guide us.
Very tough to be a parent in many sense of the word...

      A new age saying goes...
The illiterate of the future are not those who cannot read or write, but those who do not know how to learn, relearn, and learn more.
      Cheers!

welcome to the New Age Parenting, πŸ˜„ πŸ˜„

        Yup, indeed...
I realized all these when I became Daddy... It really took some time and deep thought to realize that a new paradigm is in force.

During our parents' time, feeding us took a bit of effort... Now, we have excess of food...

No, I really do not think that this is an orchestrated upheaval...
                    Reasons being:

                    1. Things like these are meant to happen... read the 4th Turning.
                    http://www.fourthturning.com/
                    http://www.fourthturning.com/html/history___turnings.html

                    2. There are things called the Kress Cycles
                    http://www.marketoracle.co.uk/Article28662.html

                    3. The US (and the world) had it coming... they were in bad shape... and \"as predicted\" did not allow the banks to fail, but pumped in money instead... saving themselves and sending the world into (massive) inflation. This has not worked in the past (particularly the Great Depression) and is not likely to work now. For the past two years, all the rallies we see are only due to hot money which will eventually increase inflation.
Even China acted the same way, pumping money into the system... as do European countries, etc.
So, when you have the global stage pumping in money almost at the same time, the markets go ballistic... like someone poured alcohol into the punchbowl at the party.
However, the night is getting on, and daybreak is almost along... the alcohol wears out, and so does the money effect.
We are about to begin the hangover stage.

While US politics are able to cover a lot of things as popularly believed, some are outright obvious. I daresay that in the next 3-4 years, we will not see the market exceed the highest point in history. It is not likely to happen at all until past 2015 IMHO.

With too much debt and too little correct action, its going to be a rough ride for many people. The underlying theme I see is more of a political economic one, where a good friend of mine advised me previously, where the rich funded the US government (Wall St funded Washington), so Washington is not longer in charge in a sense as all its actions are aligned with Wall St. The US Treasury Sec past and present are linked to previous positions in the investment banks, the very ones that were (and still are) in trouble.

Given that... S&P \"harsh\" but fair downgrade got a lot of reprise from the government. One wonders why... πŸ¦†

                    4. During the 2008 freefall, there was talk about a unit called the plunge protection unit... where they are armed with billions to buy back and prevent freefalls... looks like it was another urban legend as this sell off did not see any bankruptcy protection, nor credit contraction, etc. Just time for a reality check.

                    5. In all market histories, things like that do happen... actually, from a technical analysis point of view, it was clear since June that the likelihood was increasing... just that no one thought it would be this fast, this hard.
I wrote about this Head & Shoulders pattern in my blog
                    http://trendspottingmadscientist.blogspot.com/2011/07/madscientists-hypothesis-for-3q-2011.html
                    on July 28, 2011.

                    Given the above, plus more...
I really do not think that any government can cover such a huge and obvious problem.
My underlying concerns are that there are probably terrorist who are benefitting from the folly of the governments. I mean, if I can see these... why can't the terrorists?

                    Cheers!

PS. I speak about the fall of the Roman Empire...
                    http://www.roman-colosseum.info/roman-empire/causes-for-the-fall-of-the-roman-empire.htm
If one draws parallels, there is a very strong economic correlation to our situation just now...
                    1. Usury banking probably incepted these problems.
                    2. Economically flourishing, now deteriorating with inflation.
                    3. Living (expenses) get more and more expensive... rich poor divide get larger than ever.
                    4. People leave and birthrates fall.
                    5. Foreigners enter and take over.
