hmm … interesting, based on above link, looking at past history, some schools increase intake tremedously over the years, while other schools decrease…

hi Cars2,
another observation made (from same link):-
instead of expanding, some schools below decreased P1 intake significantly, over the past few decade(s).
curious … wonder why?

Cars2:
Thanks Cars2. It's interesting to find out how the P1 registration was in the 1990s. I wonder if your mum might change her mind about NYPS next year.To set the record straight, there was no cap on Phase 2A in 1990. Based on the school's assertion at that point, the number of registrants under Phase 1 and Phase 2A were simply greater than the number of vacancies available. Period. And Phase 1 and Phase 2A entry qualifying criteria were the same as it were today, based on my vague recollection. You can reckon that a Sec One kid at that time would not be overly interested in the mechanics of P1 registration. Lol...
Before I digress, also to set the record straight, NYPS during my time had 8 classes for each level; with close to 43-44 students per class. By simple arithmetic, we are looking at about 350 vacancies. Hence the uproar on Phase 2A registration day. As for the truth of what really happened, no one knew. My 5year old sis was going through the name list and kept asking why her name was missing. My mom was livid. It was an unforgettable day.
As for where my mom's precious (and only) grandchild is heading, truth is we haven't made up our minds. My mom remains pissed till this day. My son's chinese standard is dismal, hence I am unsure. Probably my hubs alma mater. Or probably NYPS. Or probably if history repeats itself after 22 years, I shall take a look around my neighborhood and see what's there. Sigh...
It must have been a freak year indeed, to have all spaces filled up by Phase 2A. No wonder your mum was livid. -

hello, to day is not 300. It is 390, 13 classesvks2010, you are right.
in olden days, eg: in 1998, NYPS enrolment was so much larger at 440, compared to today 300 kids.

Hi Cars2,
Once again thank you so much for your sharing. :please: :goodpost: It is indeed an eye opener for me. At least now I know that balloting at phase 2A is not entirely impossible. I am so glad that we have this sharing.
Now the question is will the Ministry limit the number of places to be taken up by Phase 2A applicants is something very scary for me. :yikes:
Hi phttp,
Thank you so much for the link. The link is indeed interesting. It is a good read. -
No probs!
glad u all find it interesting! -

My twin boys will be goin for registration next year. I can feel the stress!! within 1km from PRPS. Hopefully it will be single session by then. If not looking at other schools.
Do you really want it to go single session as it might reduce the number of intake if they do that
-
you are welcome !
it's also a discovery for me ...
stunned to realize that after dig up ancient historical records that took place >15 years ago, vacancies turned into full house so fast by end of phase 2A.
