School Uniform

Hi All,


Maybe can compile a list what to buy & not to buy during oridentation day.
Shoes & school socks can buy from outside I suppose. BTW, is 3 set of uniform & 2 set of PE attire good enough?

Now I know that RMPS the school badge & name tag is not embridory that mean the uniform sure easily poke poke then become a big hole. Any special methos to overcome this area?

Hopefully on oridentation day can go there empty handed & come back with not so many stuff to carry.

titank, yes, plan what you need to buy first. We received the book list before orientation and there were some things which were optional and some we already have. For exercise books, you’ll have to buy cos the sch’s name and badge is printed on the cover.


We got 2 sets of uniform and 2 sets of PE attire first, together with a polo-tee that is used for sch excursions. Later, sashimi had to go back to get another set of uniform. Luckily, he combined it with a second bkshop trip to pick up stuff that were out of stock on orientation day.

Check that RMPS allows your child to wear basic shoes and socks. My DD’s sch allows this but since the shoe vendor was there, we got her a pair. Based on feedback and experience, this was a waste of money for us cos the shoes were of lousy quality. Luckily, we could get her shoes and socks from Bata that were much more lasting. (sashimi’s cousin attended a sec sch that insisted that all their students wear the sch’s shoes and socks only. Unfortunately, the shoes were lousy so his aunt kept complaining of having to replace them regularly.)

My DD’s name is on her uniform and PE attire. In our case, the sch chose the name to be displayed (since her full name is too long). So after the talk in the hall, we went to pay and pick up her set of name tags outside the hall. I overheard one teacher asking a Malay mother to choose how she wanted her son’s name to be displayed since it was very long. I guess for her case, she’ll have to pay first and pick up another day. These tags are iron-on tags but they started peeling at the edges after 1-2 washes so I had no choice but to hand-stitch all of them to the clothes (no sewing machine). You’ve confirmed that RMPS name tag is pinned on too?

P.S. Sorry, can’t help you with the pinned badge as my DD’s badge is sewn on. Better remind your child to remove the badge before laundry or else the badge will rust, ruin the shirt and may even drop off and ruin other clothes or injure unwary fingers.

Bring maid? Maybe can ask them quene but can't do serious task.
Sometime they still blur like sotong.

Indeed, I think you need a min of 3 sets of uniform, and 3 sets of PE attire.

I do hope it is more organized & spread out at TNS. I just hate to waste time standing in queue.

It will be good to bring along a basket/mini trolley on wheels too. You know, the kind that \"aunties\" like to push/drag along when they go to the market? Or bring one of those small, collapsible trolleys. Books are heavy.

Indeed, I think you need a min of 3 sets of uniform, and 3 sets of PE attire.

DD's PE lessons are only on 2 days of the week so 2 sets are enough. However, if she needs her shorts more often, then I have to handwash. Her shorts are not colourfast and I only have one non-colourfast wash per week, on weekends. This is the only annoying part. Luckily, everything else is colourfast and dries fast and doesn't need ironing.

Wow like that maybe I should get the NTUC Trolley to use when I'm at the oridentation day. Seem like it going to be a fish market.

BTW, textbook can purchase from outside? At least can have free delivery & the hassle to carry them home during the oridentation day.
