Didn’t find any one expressing hate for our country. Sian, exasperated - yes. Be careful what you say. Don’t jump to conclusion without reading through the comments and how they have been built up.

Sorry my bad! I wasn’t referring to any post in this thread, just a general feeling I had based on some of the threads I was reading and some other forums I was in. No hard feeling ya?

Sigh ..... We can dislike the policies n the policy makers but is there a need to hate our country?

          Yes...agree.
We should love our country for the peace we are enjoying...as for the policies made, ahem...the policy makers should do something about the present P1 registration and the education system in primary schools. If so many parents are facing the high level stress from P5 (yours truly included), surely there must be a problem.

I wonder if the ‘high level’ of stress is mostly self inflicted…you can have a lax system but if the parents and children in it are very competitive, will the stress level be less?

The system is definitely not lax...school exam papers will definitely make one stress bcos the information is not found in textbooks.

Instead of splitting balance vacancies 50/50. We scrape 2b/c. The 2B wil be for Singaporeans only. All PV/clan/churches/GRL will get 2 slips for balloting. While those no background. 1 slip. The allocation is for ONLY singaporeans. The vacancies could be 70 or whatever percentage our genius administrator at whatever ministries in charge can think.

While the balance 30 will be for all that fail in the new 2B. The new balance 30 will be given to all to try. Again regardless of PV or not Singaporeans get 2 slips and PRs 1.

Not sure about the 1km and 1-2 km. Will these group get extra slip in balloting ?

Just a less distruptive change I thought. Since somehow PV/clans/churches/GRL/etc or whatever means is now deem as priority registration.

If the root of us, Singaporeans is not happy about too many FT taking up our kids education place of our choice. A separate track of registration should be set aside for PRs. The ministries bette take note.

In a refreshing sort of way, I actually like your proposal (though I'm not saying that I 100% support your idea).

For one, there's an assumption that all applicants for P2B are S'poreans. We all know that that will never be the case.

The second thing is, if we want to revamp the whole process like what you're proposing, why should P2A be exempted? Extrapolating your formula, why can't P2A applicants be given 2 slips of balloting paper and P2B applicants be given 1 and invited to ballot at P2A?

Just throwing out some questions based on your proposal. :siam:

                    Hi markfch

Think 2A is for old boys/girls. So can’t change too much.

Yes we can’t assume 2B is all for Singaporeans. But there was concern that alot of PVs are some FTs. They can do PV while our locals need to feed not just kids but maybe old age parents too. How to compete ?

While there were also concerns from various parties on churches / clans etc are invaded by FTs.

What I am proposing is that we collapsed 2b/c to one and all for Singaporeans only. FTs will go with another round of 2c. The ratio for locals should be much more than current. To get the ratio. Moe should publish the ratio pf locals and PRs for the past 3-5 years.

Nevertheless. Just my simple way. Maybe the smart administers at ministries already got better solutions.

We are just trying to give locals a better chance at our choice of schools. By giving 1 extra slip does not really help. But place FTs in a later stage will at least ease some pains.

actually, just thinking aloud, the FT / PR should be given priority (ahead of every citizen) since they are the ready-made babies that we singaporeans have not been able to produce, and they are here to help rejuvenate the aging population, to lessen the burden on our kids in the future to support old population

we should thank them for bringing them to us saving us lots of trouble and pain .......

haha haha, okay this is random and against the grain, talking nonsense, and sounds like sacrilege man ........ I can see stone flying at me now ........ siam ah ......... :siam: :siam: :siam: 🦆 🦆 🦆

just feel very random today .......

Beneath the jokes, I know what you're trying to highlight.

Our GLCs are not big enough to provide employment for all the locals in the workforce. In short, we need foreign investments to keep going; and foreign investors will want to maintain the fluidity of the labour market before they are tempted to invest here.

How do we tell the foreigners, we want your money but er, we don't want your people here? What's the use of having a higher chance of letting our kids enrol in the NYs, RGs of our pri sch - let's face it, even w/o PR, most of us will still be unable to enrol our kids in our 1st choice due to limited supply - when dad and mum are going to be unemployed for the next 2 years?

This education impasse and our economical dependency on foreign investors is inter-related, they are not compartmentalised issues. I wish more people are willing to actively consider this factor.

Hopefully I'm totally wrong in this, and we'll all be alright and all get into our dream schs.
