It's not about 'easy' or not. Ideally, the GEP programme is for the academically gifted or very high ability kids. Studies have shown that in any population, about 1% or so would be gifted. So the GEP programme should be for these naturally gifted (or in Singapore's case, very high ability students). Unfortunately, many kiasu parents want a share of the pie, believing that their kids can be trained to be gifted. And so the 'training centres' earn lots of money, the kids suffer at the expense of their parents' bragging rights, and the GEP programme suffers the wrath of parents whose kids didn't make it.
you are spot on! ... very sad for some of those kids, barely know how to stand straight (read: less than 1 year old), and are already being enrolled into all kind of 'gifted' enrichment lessons ... -

anyone has info how many registered BTPS today?

one of my friend’s daughter chose the IP/GEP route, but she is not doing well.
With the O level route, they have the option to go either poly or jc.
It’s a bit too early to narrow down the jc route down their throat. -

Your friend's dd was from GEP and went to an IP school? And she's not doing well in IP or was not doing well in GEP also? She can always opt out of the IP school and go into an O level school. Some IP schools also have O level classes for their weaker students. Alternatively she can opt to go to a poly and not go to a JC.one of my friend's daughter chose the IP/GEP route, but she is not doing well.
