Yes we have 9 including my pils and parents. But f&e too much walking around that I feel like we are torturing my pils instead 🙂 this year we booked a package tour to Taiwan in dec. Now we got 13 including one of my sils family. Looking forward.

We stayed in same hotel in Hk. We stayed in disney hotel before hence we thot of giving it a miss last year. For Hk, we stayed at citadines Ashley. Service apartment style but smaller. Max is queen size bed and a single sofa bed. Small kitchenette. Free broadband. Cheaper than YMCA Salisbury and we loved the location. In Nathan and right in the heart of tst. From there we walked to the ferry terminal to Macau.

Yes, I know what you mean. I brought my parents to Tokyo last year and I have the same thought too. I think my parents got phobic after that, so refused to join us this time ! I also considered package tour, but I need the flexibility of waking up late cos I have 2 kids 😛

Do you mind sharing your HK/Macau itinerary ? Cos I'm looking at a 8D7N trip too 🙂 Can PM me if not convenient.

For hotels, I'm considering YMCA, Royal Park and Hotel Benito (just read good reviews on tripadvisor) Royal Park seems to be the cheapest, but not very near to main HK MTR line.

Personally I like YMCA The Salisbury, next door to The Peninsula, a few minutes to Tsimshatsui MTR station, surrounded by all the shoppings at Nathan Road, Canton Road, Science Museum, walking distance to promenade water front to enjoy the Christmas deco on buildings across the water at Victoria harbour....and the rates is lower for the same room type. It is a proper hotel, despite the name, newly renovated, fruit basket everyday...and the family room usually has harbour view as well - perfect picture window to watch the lights on HK Island...the MTR can take you to anywhere in Kowloon or HK, and is served by free shuttle bus from the Kowloon Airport Express station

For Macau, it really depends on where you want to cover. If only the shopping streets and some sights in that area, by foot is sufficient. You can hop on the hotel transport from places to places. For the 1/2 day city tour we joined, it also brought us to the ah ma temple, macau tower and some other sights. Things that you can't do by foot.

For outlet malls, we've only been to the malls at citygate. I always feel that it is not comparable to US outlet malls given the size and the range of brands as well as goods on promotion. Some off season stuff in US is off season for them but for us coming from Singapore, there is no difference since we don't have season to begin with. It's hot and hotter. So we managed to get those stuff at fairly good prices. I remember getting \"off-season\" osh kosh shirts for my dd2 when she was younger but in Singapore, it was new product back then.

Also for coach, I feel that prices in US outlet is still alot cheaper compared to HK or Japan outlet malls. Eg at US$110, there are lots of hangbag choices and there is always another 20% discount. During my recent trip, I bought a couple of coach bags for my mum and it is like cheaper than bonia in Singapore..... You don't see such price range in asia outlet malls. I recalled the cheapest price point for coach in asia outlet is still at least S$250-$300?

For ralph lauren, think it's quite comparable. In this case, I don't find the rl at US outlet extremely cheap. But my US colleague was telling me that it also depends on the time we visit the outlet. If we are lucky, there are sales. Hubby and his colleague went to HK citygate outlet mall this year june and during the same time, I visited US outlet mall. We compared the business shirt prices and diff was not much. But if you do not have plans to visit US outlet mall soon, I feel that it's a fairly good alternative and no harm visiting.

Read that there is another outlet mall for miu miu and prada???? Never been there. Sorry I just get carried away when we talk about US shopping 😉 Singapore stuff are just so expensive that nowadays when I go to US for business, I stock up for years ahead..... :moneyflies:
                Thanks for your kind advice.

Macau - Where can I book the 1/2 Macau city tour? How much is that? Are there many different operators selling this tour?

What's the die-die-must-eat in Macau? Must be accessible on foot from ferry terminal.

Anyone with special advice how to prevent sea-sicknesses? Don't want to spoil my 1-day trip in Macau.

The Peak - is it really worth a nite visit? Or day time is equally good? Always hear people marvel at the nite view of HK from the Peak.

Outlet - I'm not really into branded stuff. But my travelling partner is die-die-must-buy type. Think the other outlet mall (prada, mui mui and many others) is called Horizons or something. Heng ah, that one not accessible by MTR, so manage to convince her not to go :moneyflies:

for maximum thrill during turbulence, perhaps try Tiger : smallest aircraft (A320), cramped seatings and dirty toilet, plus buy your drink and food on-board....no outside food allowed (but is 3.5 hours only la)
                    Well-said !! :rotflmao:

here is the trick for hotel : if your hotel is confirmed booking, check in as late as possible, chances are you get an upgrade
