I am thinking of enrolling my DD with Simei branch. But the staffs told me that teacher Lilian (recommended here) had converted to being a relief teacher.

Anyone has good teachers to recommend besides teacher Lilian? How do you find the teachers of Simei branch in general? I am keen to put my DD in ICR program. But I also understand since all these are franchised business, hence its the teachers in each individual branch that makes the difference. Parents of Simei branch, can help me with some feedbacks & advises?

      :thankyou:

It will depend on the program you are enrolled, so far the teacher during my kids still quite okay. But now, there seemed to be a lot of change of teacher, so I am unable to comment at this moment.

As for P1 programme, I can only say that it will subject to your observation. In addition, bear in mind, the P1 program is combined as P1/P2 level together.

I think not all centre practise the same...

Agreed. My friend's ds is with Woodlands branch. For PRP, I saw that he's given homework in paper form, but for my dd, it's workbook. I also understand that some branches are under same management and some are with another as they are franchised.

Hmm its probably true different branch has different standards. My son didnt have homework, not even spelling. When i asked him what he did in class, he told me : read, and read lor. And he could tell me :\"ma, when we were reading in class, the teacher was busy with her phone :P\"

            Sigh....

For PRP, I think that there is no spelling but it seemed that they should have homework. But what I seemed that ICR, there should be spelling every week.

:yikes: shock at the teacher's behavior.... Did u feedback to the person in charge?

No chance bcos till date I only saw the so called boss ONCE...besides, the receptionist/admin is not friendly type...

I did ask them whether can my ds promote to creative writing, one of the receptionist/admin say yes, dun need to bother abt the teacher's comments... ...then why in the 1st place make the poor kids take test ? ...

Anyway she asked me to choose a date for the new creative class...so I did n then I :siam:[/quote]

tis is reli terrible...indeed teacher is v.impt. Fm the PTP session, u able to tell his/her sincerity to coach and guide. Must admit that ICR is intensive..everyweek hv to go thru the spelling list with my ds. Sometimes those words can be 'chim' and at times i find it difficult to explain the meanings...

He used to have when he was attached to a new teacher but I transferred him out to a more senior teacher hoping he could learn more from an experienced teacher. So far i only saw he had spelling for the 1st few week in the beginning semester. Thereafter it was just pure reading and reading. Occassionally I saw some writing activities in his book.

Sometimes his book can be left empty and another new book is given. When I wanted to withdraw him, the reception lady asked me why. I told me my son got bore with reading every time in the class, she agreed that icr is very dry and does not necessary suit every kids. She told me she will get the teacher to feedback to me how my son was progressing then i should decide if i want to proceed to withdraw him or not. I gave 1.5mths notice and till the day he left the centre, the teacher didnt even bother to talk to me. So I presume they are not hard up with my biz. And I did see LOTS of withdrawal forms when the lady was flipping thru my records..

So I told myself i made a good choice to withdraw him !! Haha

I think the teacher really played a part, I am glad that my kids are under the senior teacher who actually really ensure the kids are able to read. They really got 10 words of spelling every week and some writing homework for them. Of course, they might not understand the content fully but the teacher actually expect the parents also go through with the kids on their reading.

If I am in your situation, I would also withdraw my kids from the centre.
