Maple, oic. I was wondering what pattern test ds was talking about as well. I thought it was strange that the school would administer this, but if it's from MOE it makes sense though it's the first time I've heard of them doing this at P1. Maybe it's a pilot project.

hnk (hope u don't mind i shorten it), it's different from the review test. As usual ds1 says he knows the answers but doesn't know how to show the working for the review test. :faint:

Oh, I forgot to ask DS yesterday about the MOE Maths test - will go and ask him later this evening.

Yes, it’s very heartwarming to see my little boy now BIG at 7 years old. He is also mighty pleased with himself yesterday when we sang a birthday song to him (and he had 3 cakes - 1 bigger one over the weekend from my parents in law, another 2 smaller ones from my mum and my brother… so I didn’t get another one. He is asking for toys from the school bookshop (Angry Birds and King Pigs! Ha!)

Time really flies. They will be P2 soon. Better treasure the time when they are still young and "cute"!

MOE knows that they have to do something to BTPS to boost profile, boost result and standard cuz if they don’t, be madness for next year P1 registration. Already this year everyone is screaming MADNESS. This year within 1 km all except BTPS requires balloting in Bukit Timah area. Very crazy!! Glad I’m sane enough not be part of it!!!

Huh? I don’t think MOE does anything to boost any schools, except maybe when setting up experimental formats like Schools of the Future scheme. In any case, it seems that this patterning test is carried out in a number of primary schools, not just BTPS.

I asked my DS whether he took any patterning test and he went \"huh\"? He said there was a test which he did across two days on timestable (or something like that). If he had ever done it they have camouflaged it really well 😉 If not he is just super blur as usual. Maybe it was just random sampling of classes? My DS in 1 Resilience.

For Topical Review I hope he remembers to show the working. He finds it \"unnecessary\" but sometimes he gets careless and the final answer is wrong. And \"checking\" is not in his vacabulary.

just checked with my dd, she did not recall the "pattern" test, only the topical review. maybe it was done on selected class/students. my dd is in 1 respect.

Just received a letter from the school to inform us about the Orientation Day for P1 next year is on 19 November. 🙂 I am so excited!

Can't believe my DS is growing up so fast!
