Hi, I am looking for a good and patient piano teacher (Diploma in Music preferred) who is willing to travel to Ang Mo Kio / Yio Chu Kang area for my K2 boy. He is at beginner level. Lessons with the objective (hopefully) to eventually take exams by ABRSM. Prefer lessons during weekday afternoons.
The last one didn’t work out as she required me to sit in during every lesson in her studio to "manage" my boy since she said that she is a teacher and not a nanny (whatever that means), I obliged and did that. Afterwards, she simply suggested that she won’t teach my boy, but offer to teach me instead (since it is easier to teach an adult), and then ask me to teach my boy at home. That’s when we both agreed that there is a misalignment in expectations and we parted ways. -

:yikes: That sounds like the worst thing a teacher can do when he/she makes a promise (by accepting the monthly fees) to teach a child.Hi, I am looking for a good and patient piano teacher (Diploma in Music preferred) who is willing to travel to Ang Mo Kio / Yio Chu Kang area for my K2 boy. The last one didn't work out as she required me to sit in during every lesson in her studio to \"manage\" my boy since she said that she is a teacher and not a nanny (whatever that means), I obliged and did that. Afterwards, she simply suggested that she won't teach my boy, but offer to teach me instead (since it is easier to teach an adult), and then ask me to teach my boy at home. Serendipity:
Sad to say, I agree. And she required us to pay 2 months fees upfront as she is renting a studio so her arrangement with the studio is that she has to rent for at least 2 months or something like that. That's why we stuck with her for 2 months because we have paid the fees and cannot refund. If not, would have :siam: long ago.

Could have asked for refund since she wasn’t delivering what she promised?

I agree. teacher is the one that want to stop teaching and he/she should refund the remaining lesson fees to you.
Normally for piano lessons, you only need to pay one month fees in the beginning of the month since it’s private teacher. -
Laya, I know there’s a school near Chomp Chomp have keyboard group classes. The syllabus are from USA and parents are suppose to sit in. It’s quite fun and your child will appreciate music at such a young age by listening and singing in the class. if not mistaken the school name is Harmony Road.
